NFL Power Rankings Through Week 5

Your Rankings

  • 1

Packers- Still unbeaten, still at the top. Rodgers is like Superman with the Fantastic 4 to throw to. It's almost not fair.

  • 2

Lions- Destroying Cutler doesn't seem to be much of a task this year, but 5-0 regardless of your competition makes you one of the best.

  • 3

Saints- Saints have played a tough schedule and have come out 4-1. Every game has been close and they will lose some of those, but they are still the best team in the South right now.

  • 4

Patriots- Despite the worst defense in the league, they continue to win. I do see them dropping without Chung and Mayo in the lineup.

  • 5

Ravens-This D is like a fine wine apparently, and the offense seems to finally be clicking...here and there. Get consistent and you'll move up.

  • 6

Bills- Losing to the Bengals almost drops them out of the top 10, but we don't know how good or bad that Cincy team is yet, they are playing well.

  • 7

Steelers- Just when you think Roethlisberger isn't going to play he puts up 5 TD's with no running game and dominate with no Harrison on D. This team makes me sick, but they are always good.

  • 8

49ers- Alex Smith seems to be getting some consistency under the same program and Harbaugh patched together a solid defense. Great job!

  • 9

Chargers- I don't like putting this team here, but who else can I. They haven't beaten anyone with authority, but they did win through September, which is something they aren't accustomed to doing.

  • 10

Raiders- Was it playing hard for Al Davis or just being that good. I think they are that good, pounding the Jets and now beating the Texans. This team is playoff bound if they can beat the Chargers.

  • 11

Texans- This team is good, but still doesn't know how to win consistently yet. They may be challenged by Tennessee if that team figures out who they are as well.

  • 12

Jets- The problem with this team is they have players that they want to be someone they aren't. Sanchez is not an elite QB and never will be. Shonn Greene will never be a consistent elite running back. And that stout D looks awful against the rush this year.

  • 13

Redskins- They really haven't beaten anyone so I'm not sold on them yet, but they are winning the division, so I have to put them here.

  • 14

Giants- This team is so disappointing. Injuries are catching up with them, and Eli's receivers continue to let him down in clutch times. They are the best of the East, so I think they will get it together and come out on top.

  • 15

Bears- The Bears defense is a huge concern, giving up over 400 yards every game this year for the first time in franchise history through the first five weeks. Cutler won't make it through mid season if that line doesn't start protecting him. Third place for the Bears, where I had them at the beginning of the year.

  • 16

Titans-The Bi-polar Titans have yet to find a true identity. Hasselback plays very inconsistent and Chris Johnson doesn't appear to be worth the money he held out for so far this season. Who are you guys? The team that pounded the Ravens or got stroked by the Steelers?

  • 17

Falcons- I'm personally upset with this team because I have Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, and Julio Jones on my fantasy team. They've played a tough schedule, but it's going to be tough to make the playoffs this year because they obviously won't win this division.

  • 18

Buccaneers- WOW...this team is not the contender that everyone thought. Very inconsistent because they are young still. They nearly got beat by the Colts and were throttled by the 49ers. A lot of work to do for Morris.

  • 19

Seahawks- Beating the Giants was quite an accomplishment, and they seem to be stringing together some wins. The Rams and Cards don't seem to be a threat, so they will have to contend with the 49ers if they want another playoff appearance.

  • 20

Bengals- Who are these guys? They play everyone tough and the young QB Dalton seems to be playing well. The defense looks really good too. A winning record and sitting near the top of a tough division early is a good sign so far.

  • 21

Panthers- I thought this team would still be in the bottom of the barrel again this year, at least for a while, but they proved me wrong by taking Cam Newton, who seems to be one of the best athletes in the league. Let's see if he can become one of the best QB's. Steve Smith is having the best year of his career as well.

  • 22

Cowboys-Romo takes a lot of grief, but who is better out there to lead this team? It's not all his fault. It's the lack of a consistent healthy running game, receivers that can't stay healthy, a defense that cannot stop people when they need to, and yes, Romo does make a lot of mistakes. I was never a believer of this team, and I'm still not.

  • 23

Eagles- I was skeptical from the start of this talent coexisting, and it turns out I was right. Vick turns the ball over way too much, and Nnamdi was overrated and over paid. They will win games, don't get me wrong, but it's going to be tough to crawl out of this hole and make the playoffs because I believe the Gmen are better and already a game up on them.

  • 24

Vikings- McNabb is washed up, so give it to your playmaker, the best back in the league. Yeah, it was the Cardinals, but A.P. is a beast and needs to touch the ball 30 times a game for this team to have a chance to win games, but they are already out of contention in that division.

  • 25

Browns - It's no surprise that this is my favorite team, and I hate having them this low. They seem to be making strides then injuries and foolishness always seems to get in the way. Hillis is complaining now about not feeling appreciated because his agent has him brain-washed. Shut up and just play ball Hillis, put up numbers like last year (which you've failed to produce thus far) and you will get paid. Holmgrem is a great GM and will make it happen.

  • 26

Broncos- It's apparently Tebow time in Denver. The crowd bullied John Fox into this decision, but Kyle Orton wasn't helping his situation any throwing the most picks in the league thus far. They have no running game, and that's the element Tebow brings that Orton can't. Orton is definitely the better QB, but Tebow is multi-talented and will run and throw.

  • 27

Dolphins- Henne is out for the year so I should have this team lower. They say Sparano's job is "safe" for now, but that just means they can't find anyone to take the job yet, but when they do, you better believe he will be gone.

  • 28

Chiefs- A big comeback win over the Colts doesn't mean much. If Manning played in this game, the Colts would've scored 48 and it wouldn't have mattered that Cassel torched the Colts D for four TD's. They are bad on defense and Cassel is very shaky. They seem to be playing a little better, but there's too much talent in the AFC.

  • 29

Rams- People ask what happened to this team, but they did go 7-9 last year, which isn't anything to brag about. Bradford is in a sophomore slump with no running game and still no receivers. You'll draft high next year.

  • 30

Jaguars- Del Rio's days are numbered here, so he's trying to pull out all the stops. Gabbert isn't going to be able to save the coaches job this year, and they can't compete with Houston in that division.

  • 31

Colts- Painter to Garcon looks good, but no running game and no defense will still equal no wins. This team would still be .500 if Manning was playing. They are not good.

  • 32

Cardinals - High expectations for Kolb haven't been met. He didn't really play that many games to warrant such a contract in my opinion, and Wells still can't stay healthy. This team is the worst in the league right now and have a lot of work to do. They shouldn't stay here long, but for now they need to get it together.

I totally called that 49ers game, I even wrote an atricle about it on Thursday or Friday. I knew they would cream the Bucs. Once SF really comes together as unit late in the season, I thnk they are going to be extremely dangerous.

Can not see how the Dolphins are up #27 ...especially over the Chiefs...who are now 2-3 ....winners of two in a row....and played tough in week 3. So sad that the Colts are so far down...but hard to argue against their current ranking.

I also think that the Chiefs have played better the last couple weeks even if they have played teams without a win. If they can get a win next week they can bget something going at 3-3. Tough shot in the AFC, but you never really know.

That's why I mentioned I should have the Dolphins lower, but I think they have the talent (especially on defense) to be better but they are not well coached. I still believe they are better than all the teams I have under them...right now. Realistically, if you look at the Chiefs schedule they have the Dolphins left that they may beat, and the Broncos twice...other than that they have the Steelers, Patriots, Packers, Bears, and Jets...Can you really see them winning those games? Manny, you did call that niners game...it'll be tough this week against the Lions. I really wish the Colts could be higher but they were pounding the Chiefs at home and just fell apart...that's terrible. Maybe they can get some wins eventually, but it's not looking good with that defense.

I'm going out on a limb and saying the 49ers will beat the Lions next week. Harbaugh's team will be ready you know they are practicing their tails off as we speak

I think the Patriots should be in that #2 spot. The Lions are undefeated, and I am definitely on their band wagon, but Tom Brady is unstoppable. I do not think the Pats will lose again anytime soon.

I agree that the Pats offense is unstoppable, but they have the worst ranked defense in the league. When the Pats won all of those Super Bowls is because they had a top 5 defense in every category and Brady did his 5 to 10 yard slant patterns and draw plays and they bored teams to death. When they went undefeated they had this explosive offense and players but not the greatest defense, and the Giants figured out how to pressure Brady. I think that's what's going to happen here. Not saying they won't win games, because they'll still get a first round bye in the playoffs probably. I just think Detroit is more well rounded at this point. And I'm waiting for the Pack to lose so I can physically see the Lions at the top of the leaderboard for a change...lol

Good point, their defense is struggling, but I'm not sure how good the defense really needs to be when the offense is capable of dropping 40-50pts. Their are not many teams right now that have offenses that can match the Pats. I also do not think that anyone would even remember the Giants if it wasn't for a gift from god (AKA David Tyree) late in that game. I am all about the upset, and do not feel bad at all for seeing the Pats lose, but I think if those 2 teams played 10 games, the Pats would have won the other 9.

I do not doubt that one bit. Giants had a great game plan and figured out how to rattle Brady. There's so much parody in the league this year it's hard to tell who will win from week to week.

We should all compare each week. We gotta work together to get ourselves recognized on this site

Sounds good to me, I really want to get my picks up to 80% correct by the end of the season.....or at least 75%. Three minds definitely work better than one! I enjoy instructive criticism, so if you see something in my picks that you don't like.......let me know! And I will definitely check your guys picks out as soon as they are up.

Wow a power ranking that doesn't put the Raiders about the 49ers! I will be following more.

Kevin, I really like both of these teams this year and what they are doing. I don't think I've ever witnessed a team sweep their division and not make the playoffs like last year with Oakland. If they beat San Diego, they will definitely move up on my list. If the 49ers beat the Lions this weekend, they take a big move. I'm surprised the media is still talking about the 49ers trading up to get Luck. I know Harbaugh coached him and loves him, but you have a guy that has thrown 8 touchdowns and 1 pick. He's doing pretty well so unless he crumbles, let's focus on winning games and making an impact in the playoffs this year.

True I like the raiders too this year. Winning in the NFL is tough, winning on the road is tougher and both teams just did that.

Don't think the Colts will trade away the Luck-y pick no matter what, or any other team for that matter. Is it too early to start the Luck-y countdown?
