Dream Match: Manny Pacquiao Vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The camps of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. are currently in talks about a potential meeting between the two pound for pound fighters come May 5th next year. This is without a doubt the biggest and richest boxing match that can be made today. They are the most popular fighters of this generation. They occupy the top two spots in the pound for pound rankings. They are both in their primes. This fight is a sure winner. In terms of how much money the bout will make, it is expected to set a new world record. It will likely break all boxing pay per view records. This is how huge this fight is going to be. As an avid fan of boxing, I'm praying to God that the two camps finally sign the contract and make the fight a done deal.

If you've been following boxing, you know how Pacman and Money went back and forth trying to blame each other as to why the fight didn't happen during the last two years or so. Negotiations went on and off. All sorts of reasons and excuses are thrown into the picture – drug tests, somebody is ducking someone, somebody is scared, Bob Arum is a pig, the purse split isn't fair, etc., etc.. Things just went on and on without any positive results. Boxing fans are getting sick of the thing. But everybody just can't stop talking about the potential fight. Why would they? It's the bout that everybody wants. The antics of both camps are getting pathetic but these can't take away the fact that Pacman Vs Money is the fight that needs to be made.

Okay, let's just say that Pacman vs Money is finally happening on Cinco de Mayo next year. Let's assume that both fighters signed the contract so the fight is a go. The big question now is who will win? Or who has the bigger chance to win? I'm sure that a lot of the fans seeing the Pacman to win have changed their minds after watching Pacquiao-Marquez III. The Pacman, although he won the fight, was schooled in that fight. I scored the fight in favor of Marquez. It was a very close fight so I wasn't that surprised when the judges gave the win to Pacquiao, the champion. Of their three fights, I thought Marquez won the last two.

That brings us to Mayweather. Money dominated and beat up Marquez when they fought. If Pacman can't beat Marquez who was whooped by Mayweather, does this mean Mayweather will easily beat Pacquiao? A lot of people will probably think so. Defensive and counter-punching fighters have always been problems to Pacquiao. And Mayweather is one of the best when it comes to the mentioned abilities.

Marquez is not the fighter that both Mayweather and Pacquiao fought. There's Oscar dela Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Shane Mosley. Pacquiao beat these guys in more dominant fashion than Mayweather. Money decisioned dela Hoya, Pacman made him quit. Money knocked out Hatton in the later rounds, Pacman knocked him out in the second round. Both Money and Pacman decisioned Mosley but there's no doubt that Pacman had a more dominant win. Of course, there's always the fact that Money fought these men first before Pacman did. Hence the claims of Mayweather that Pacquiao has been fighting his leftovers.

If you are to ask me, I'm going to say that Mayweather can easily beat Pacquiao unless Pacquiao finds a way to break through Mayweather's almost impenetrable defense.
