Water Parks of Wisconsin Dells
Wisconsin Dells is the water park capitol of the world and they are in the middle of their busiest season. There is an abundance of things to enjoy in Wisconsin Dells year round, but summer is their busiest time with water slides, lazy rivers, splash pools, roller coasters and cotton candy vendors around every corner.
If you’ve not had the pleasure of touring Wisconsin Dells, the recent heat wave provides an excellent excuse to break out that swimsuit and hit the parks. There are numerous indoor and outdoor parks to suit every interest. Many venues feature both. The following are some of the largest attractions, drawing millions of visitors per season.
This is the largest water park in the country, featuring 49 water rides including two huge wave pools, two lazy rivers and four water park play areas for small children. The water slides, are fast and furious, zipping through darkened tunnels, under cascading waterfalls and around corkscrew turns before dropping into the cool pools below. If you’re looking for a little dry fun check out the 4-D Dive In Theater. Don your 4D glasses and have a great time as the characters literally dive off the screen and into your seat. Parking is always free at Noah’s Ark and food and gift shops are available to complete your water park experience.
The Wilderness Resort
This sprawling resort features ten different indoor and outdoor water attractions for adults and kids of all ages. Your family can rent from the many available onsite condos and spend a weekend in north woods luxury comfort taking advantage of the free shuttles to get from attraction to attraction. If you want to take a break between water park adventures, check out the huge arcade, shoot a round of golf or schedule a relaxing massage. As with most parks, there are countless water slides, relaxing lazy rivers, warm spas both indoor and outdoor, restaurants and gift shops. This resort is like a home away from home, but way more fun! Water park tickets are included in your rental price.
This African themed resort is a hit for tourists and locals alike. Step into the jungles of Africa and zip down incredibly fast slides, get doused under a waterfall, float down the lazy river, race your friends down the matt slides, or stand up and boogie board on the Flowrider! Attention to detail makes the Kalahari a favorite among visitors and like the Wilderness, condos are available for rent so your family can make a weekend of it. Water park tickets are always included in your rental fees. Private cabanas and bungalows are also available to rent so your family can stay in the park all day and have a safe, private place to leave your belongs and to rest and eat between enjoying water attractions. Each is equipped with a flat screen TV, security safe, refrigerator, and lounging furniture.
The Great Wolf
Climb up into the tree house at the Fort Mackenzie Adventure Center and enjoy slides, rope ladders, suspension bridges and more. The fort features a 100 gallon bucket that douses guests standing below and is a favorite feature of the indoor park. Visitors also love the matt racer slide on which they can race their friends down an incredibly fast slide to see who emerges victorious at the bottom! Some of the fastest, curviest slides can be found here. If you’re more laid back, play a bit of water basketball, enjoy a relaxing dip in the hot spa or slip into a tube and glide down the lazy river. Families can rent accommodations for a family get away and also rent private cabanas in the water park area. The Great Wolf also features a large arcade, restaurants, and a spa for kids. Great Wolf Lodge is also conveniently located near the Tanger Outlet Mall that features great shopping venues such as Coach, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Nine West, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, GAP and dozens more.
With a Greco-Roman theme, this outdoor water park features a smaller array of water activities than some of the larger parks such as Noah’s Ark, but also features a large outdoor amusement park with the best roller coasters in the Dells. There is also a bungee drop and a ride that straps three brave souls in and sends them soaring above the parks attached to a harness! The water park features a large wave pool which blasts a huge tsunami like wave every two minutes, tossing delighted guests about and washing them to shore. There is also a large sand beach with bar area for lounging and enjoying tropical cocktails while enjoying the wave pool vista. Gifts shops and restaurants line the parks and there are large, covered picnic areas. Guests cannot bring food or beverages into the park, but tailgating is allowed in the parking lot. Parking is $10 per car. This park also features a small indoor water park with a variety of slides, two spas, a kid’s pool area and lockers. There are also evening hours at this park, which stays open later than other outdoor parks, including special evenings on which the park is open until 1:00 a.m.!
