The Clippers certainly have the talent to make the playoffs, but several things must happen to make that a reality. 1.) Blake Griffin needs to get healthy, stay healthy, and integrate himself into the system. 2.) Marcus Camby needs to turn back the clock and get another year of youthful vigor into his game. These two, combined with Chris Kaman, give the Clippers a good rotation of big men. 3.) Baron Davis needs to play to his capabilities AS A POINT GUARD. I emphasize this because he is a good and willing shooter, but frequently disappoints as someone willing and able to lead a team. Guys like Eric Gordon, Ricky Davis and Kareem Rush give the Clippers a decent if unspectacular backcourt, and Davis needs to do his job well for the Clippers to be good. 4.) Mike Dunleavy needs to do his job well. I'm not a huge Dunleavy fan, but he's a better coach than some of the folks that have passed through LA. He can make a bad team decent, but I'm not sure he can make a decent team great.
The Clippers will need to overachieve to make the playoffs with Portland and Phoenix looking improved this year, but if they can play with heart and get Griffin healthy, they certainly have a chance to sneak in ahead of other overachieving teams like Houston.
