My Favorite Walt Disney World Rides

Why I Love Disney World

So I've had tons of Disney vacations, and over the years I've seen the parks change; sometimes for the better, often for the worst. Regardless, I've really come to enjoy some of the attractions at Walt Disney World, and this hub is dedicated to the best of the best (there really aren't any bad rides at Disney, just long waits).

Top Rides At The Magic Kingdom

I'll begin with the Magic Kingdom, as it is the iconic Disney theme park.

Splash Mountain

I remember as a kid I was pretty afraid of the big drop (40 feet I believe), and I considered it an achievement to have ridden it. I would ride with my dad as my mom and little brother went to Small World. The whole ride is really well done, it's kinda a shame that little kids don't get to appreciate the animatronic animals and the elaborate villages that the Imagineers constructed. Plus, Florida is kinda sweltering in the summer and the cold splash can be a godsend.

Space Mountain

Space Mountain is the heart of Futureworld, and was the first "real" roller coaster I've been on. It's all in the dark, and Disney did a spectacular job designing the line for it. You walk past holograms and stars shoot by as you wait to board. How cool is that?

Pirates of the Caribbean

The ride that inspired the hit movies, Pirates of the Caribbean is perhaps my favorite attraction at the Magic Kingdom. It's a huge ride, with excellent props and authentic Spanish mission architecture. Disney has recently added Jack Sparrow animatronics and Davy Jones special effects, which are alright, but the ride was fine without them.

Trivia: The Orlando fire commisioner thought the simulated fire in the razed village was real and about shut down the ride upon inspection!

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

On this ride you become a Space Cadet and help Buzz take down the Evil Emperor Zurg. Yeah it sounds kinda lame, but the fun part is that you get to shoot a bunch of targets with lazer guns and compete with your family to see who gets the high score! I always dominate.

Best Rides At Epcot Center

Ok, enough of the Magic Kingdom. Sure I probably left out a bunch of your favorite rides, but it needed to be done. I'm sorry (not really). We're moving on to Epcot now!

Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth very well might be the best ride in all of Disney World. It's dark, it's relaxing, it's cold... what isn't there to like? You go on a journey through time, learning about the history of communication as you go. It's been renovated recently, and not really for the better, but I'm still a huge fan. Oh except for the burning of Rome. That portion stanks.

The Mexico Pavillion Ride

I don't even know what this ride is called, but I still love it. It's you on a boat with a bunch of bros in ponchos singing "lalalalala" and I can't even describe it. They've updated it recently and it's still cash. Plus you can purchase a poncho for yourself when it's done!!

Living with the Land

This is another boat ride, this time through Disney's sustainable living centers. You can look at crops grow in hydroponic soil and learn about man's agricultural history.

Soarin'

Soarin' takes you over California and shows you the sites and smells of the state. You're basically in a huge hanglider with a bunch of other dudes and there are amazing special effects on this ride. You can smell an orange grove as you skim past it, and feel the cool ocean breeze. It needs to be experienced.

O'Canada

Actually a movie and not a ride, but it's pretty funny and has Martin Short and a great soundtrack.

Awesome Disney's MGM Studios Rides

Yes, I know it's now called Disney's Hollywood Studious, but I'm not calling it that. Whatever though, the rides are still the same.

The Great Movie Ride

Another one of my favorite rides out of all the parks is the Great Movie Ride. You get to go through and see all your favorite movies come to life, including the Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, James Cagney films, John Wayne movies, and even Clint Eastwood!

Star Tours

If you're a fan of Star Wars, you'll be in seventh heaven at Star Tours. The Imagineers have built a giant AT-AT, they've got C3-P0 and R2-D2 animatronics, it's really quite something. The ride itself isn't too thrilling, but the atmosphere is what gets ya. Oh and the Tatooine Traders store at the exit caters to the inner Star Wars-nerd in all of us.

Indiana Jones Stunt Show Spectacular

I'm a huge fan of the first three Indiana Jones movies and this ampitheater attraction is great. It recreates scenes from Raiders of the Lost Arc and you'll love it for sure.

Hollywood Tower of Terror

This spooky Twilight-zone themed ride isn't actually that scary.  What's great about it is the work that Disney put into the actual line queue and attraction itself.  You get to walk by decrepit fountains, and a carefully constructed abandoned hotel lobby.

Killer Animal Kingdom Attractions

There's not so much that I'm fond of at Animal Kingdom, but they do have one ride.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

The ride is unique because you actually get to see real animals. Disney's got rhinocerouses and lions, wildabeasts and okampis, that you can see for real. Don't worry about the animals though, they're treated better than any zoo and receive the pampered Disney treatment.

HubMob Stuff

This really was a fun hub to write for the theme park themed HubMob! I love Disney World and this gave me a chance to expound my WDW wisdom.

This hub is dedicated to my mom, a true "Disney nerd." lol

I went on the buzz lightyear ride and i was absolutely rubbish.  I still maintain that my laser was broken(?!!?) Honest - it was. well that's my story and i sticking to it.

The tower of terror was fantastic.  Actually the whole Disney experience is amazing and i would recommend it as a holiday destination for everyone young and old.
