I am happy for him, not so much for myself and i did watch some of the match (Motor racing on other channels) he seemed on fire, if it carries through he will certainly be number 1.
I wonder how us British will feel if Scotland goes it alone, many of our champions come from there.
Anyway he is British (at the moment) and its nice to see after a 77 year wait.
Now all we need is a women's champion.

The 100 or so British ex-pats cheering him on in Champions Bar in Qatar yesterday weren't bothering to make the Scottish/British/English distinction. The point is, it was a World class performance (by both players).

He's been quoted as saying he's Scottish- not British previously so always going to divide opinion. He played well but he alienated a lot of people by those comments

I'm Scottish and British. I've been both since birth. But I have more in common with a Peruvian musician than with a Glaswegian accountant. Let's forget the bollox and enjoy the talent. Life's too short, OK?

Yes, the same people who said he was British when he won but when he lost he was Scottish.
