It's Official - The Atlanta Thrashers are moving to Winnipeg

Winnipeg will be home of an NHL franchise next season as a TrueNorth Sports has purchased the Atlanta Thrashers.  Winnipeg has not had an NHL franchise since the Jets moved to Phoenix after the 1996 season. This marks the second time Atlanta has lost an NHL franchise.  The Flames left Atlanta in 1980 and moved to Calgary.  Personally, Atlanta does not deserve a third opportunity for an NHL franchise.  With this move, their will be some realignment in the NHL.  Winnipeg will eventually move to the Western Conference and someone like Detroit, Columbus, or Nashville will likely move to the Eastern Conference.  We will soon find out.
