Ripstik Caster Board- A Whole New Way to Ride
This is a great product for those avid skateboarders looking for the next big thrill. It is described as a cross between a snowboard and a skateboard. Unlike any other with distinguished features such as a pivoting deck and 360 degree inclined caster trucks which offer a snowboard-like carving ability. If you would like to turn or accelerate, all you need to do is a simple weight change with no need for pushing, just as if you were carving down the slopes.
Features that Help You Do Tricks
When you want to do tricks, you need features that allow you to maintain your foot control. These features are such like the spiked traction pads, a kick tail and nose, and the concave deck design found in this Ripstik Caster Board. When you are riding, the last thing you want is to go flying or bumping over rough pavement. With the 76mm polyurethane wheels and precision ABEC-5 bearing casters you can now have a smooth ride no matter where you roll. Designed for children 8 years and up, the Ripstik's plastic end platforms and metal torsion beam can hold up to 220 pounds.
Those who are transitioning for the traditional 4 wheeled standard skateboards might need to re-adjust their balance and take some extra time learning how to maneuver on this 2 wheeled futuristic looking board. For those who are ready to step things up a bit, this is the ultimate challenge. If you are standing on the sturdy traction plates and making subtle movements, you can even find you can propel the Ripstik up a slope! This is possible due to the way the front and rear flexible panels work by the control of a spring-oriented bar that is located on the top of the wheels. This weighs approximately 9 pounds. Great exhibition of agility compared to longboards.
Practice Makes Perfect
With the variety of vivid colors this is a hit for both boys and girls of all ages. Most children are so thrilled to try it out that with consistent practice, they learn to master it in only a few short days.
Never wear without protective gear! Wrist guards and helmet can also be purchased on Amazon for an affordable price.
Once you have mastered the balance on the two wheels it is all about choosing which foot you want to use, what wiggle you want to apply and how much pressure you would like to give it to accomplish what you want to do. Adults have been commenting that this is a great workout and so much fun that they barely think about the fact that they are exercising(good for core muscle development for all ages),and excellent for coordination.
This also comes with a DVD that has some safety tips and a few demonstrations of what you can do and how you should ride it.
1. For the best use with the Ripstik don't use when it has rained or there is water on the ground. You need a lot of traction for this equipment to work optimally.
2. Avoid bumps or it will just stop short and you will go flying.
3. The rear wheel wears quickly but by putting your weight on the front wheel, you can reduce the wear on the back wheel. If you slide the board sideways instead of yawing it, you can make the wear on both wheels the same. Although replacing the wheels on the board is not a hard task.
There are no breaks although you can slow down by making wide turns. If you are an aggressive skateboarder who does lots of tricks or working out with your board, you may find that the wheels need to be replaced more often than on a 4 wheeled skateboard.
One of the benefits though is that you get an extra 2 wheels when purchasing the item from Amazon. If you would like better wheels made for heavy duty than you can purchase the WAVE wheels.
If you are into tricks such as the "catching air" trick, you may find that this is not a suitable choice as it will not land
as the others and could knock you off balance.
This is the perfect exercise equipment for parents to use when they want to follow along with their younger children who are riding bikes and scooters.
