Admit it, every woman wants to look fabulous no matter what age she is in. It is VERY important to look your best not just for the people who matter but more importantly, for your own self-esteem and happiness. We often mistakenly think that looking great takes time and money. It doesn't! One just need to inculcate the proper mind-set.
Looking great at any age is not so hard at all. It is something that every woman should never compromise. When you look great, you not only feel good and confident, it also signals to other people that you take yourself seriously. Therefore, no matter what age you are in, here are 5 simple and fail-proof ways to look your best easily:
1. Develop your own classic style based on your unique personality
Find out which types of style in clothing and accessories will suit you well and develop it into your very own unique style. Sticking to classic styles often works for many women. Take note that being stylish does not mean following every new fashion trend that comes every season. Doing so will make you a fashion victim as opposed to developing your own unique classic style that will compliment your personality.
At first, it can be difficult to know which style will work but with a little research, practice and survey among your friends, you will find out which style works best for you. If you find a style that suits you, do not be afraid to get feedback from friends, tips from experts and even take photos of yourself. This will give you a more accurate picture of how you look without being biased.
Do not be afraid to make mistakes for it is through trial and error when you will find out which will work and which would not. In time you will find a style that best suits you well and achieving that timeless look regardless of age will be possible.
2. Get a gorgeous hairstyle that compliments your face
Hair is everything. If you are not blessed with a luxurious head of hair, at least find a hairstyle that compliments your look and stick with it. You can create your very own signature look if you want to. Think of Anna Wintour, Goldie Hawn, Jennifer Aniston or Zoey Deschanel who have each their own signature hairstyles that makes them standout above the rest.
Same way with you, you must know that hair is your crowning glory. There is no exact science as to which hairstyle is perfect or worst for every age. Most people would say that as one grows older, hair should be cut short but I do not think this is so. A lot of mature women still rock longer hair so in short there is no rule on length of hair at any age. As long as you can find a length and style that makes you beautiful then go for it!
In dealing with grey hair, in case you choose to color them, make sure to recolor your roots every 3-4 weeks. Also, choose color that will be a few shades from you natural color. Avoid drastic haircolor changes in a different shade because it will not look natural on you. If you've got lighter skin, then lighter shades of browns will do.
3. Wear only minimal make-up
While many woman would raise a brow when it comes to make up, it is true, looking great requires minimal make-up. Unless you are blessed with great genes that bestow you a naturally beautiful skin and great facial structure, then make up is your ally. Minimal make up means that you choose to emphasize features that you believe make you look beautiful. It is easy to know which either from your own observation or via feedback from others. More importantly, minimal make-up means you can do it in less than 10 minutes.
If you've got beautiful eyes, why not line them up with eyeliner for emphasis. If you have dark under eye circles, do not be afraid to use the proper shade of concealer. If you love your lips, make sure you maintain that they are soft at all times by applying lip balm or lip gloss with or without a tint. If you want to look fresh and dewy or even with a hint of color in your cheeks, do so with a dab of blush on or bronzer to highlight those mega cheekbones.
In every case, do not overdo and remember that lining the eyes just below your lashes (not in the inner eye) is way safer. It will also make your eye look bigger. If possible do not line you lower line fully, since this will make those eyes smaller.
When it comes to grooming one's brows, remember that highly-arched and thinner brows will make you look older and seem angry. Take a good look at the shape of your brows and simply follow the natural line when you groom them.
4. Dress up whenever you can and wherever you are
Dressing up simply means wearing clothes that make you feel good wherever you are. Always put an effort to dress in nicer clothes at every opportunity. Dressing down has a negative effect on one's mood. The best way to develop this habit is to think that you will have to look great at the time you wake up from bed. Early in the day, develop the habit of creating that positive and confident frame of mind by telling yourself that you want to look great today.
It is easy to be complacent when you know you will not be going out for the day but this will not help if you want to put your best face forward. So even when at home, always wear clothes that make you feel good and look good. Avoid dressing down in sweat shirts and baggy clothes when you feel that you will just be sitting home especially when off-work. When you wear awful clothing, it will also reflect on how you feel about yourself.
Learn to dress nicer and it will become a habit later on. Doing so will not only make you feel good when you look in the mirror at any time of the day but it can also be practical when you are always ready to do some urgent errands that require leaving the house on short notice.
5. Work with your current weight or do something about it
People can look good regardless of weight. There are many women who manage to look fabulous even when they are on the heavier side. One's weight should never be an excuse to look fabulous. This is not to say that you cannot work on a desired weight, if need be. If you believe that you could still look better at a much ideal weight then do not simply rant and complain about it. Make a plan to work on and start to engage in a physical activity that you love and will help lose weight in the long term.
Never push yourself to do mind-numbing, repetitious exercises with the main goal of losing weight. It will be more sustainable to find a physical activity that you really love. Find an activity that you will truly enjoy in itself. It can be by joining a dance group, go swimming, biking, hiking, and many other exciting activities where you get to exert yourself and lose weight as an added benefit.
