4 Heel Repair Remedies and Tips to Get Rid of Cracked Heels

Source

Cracked heels can be very unsightly, especially during a time of year when the weather heats up and we wear sandals and the like. The truth is that most of us will have cracked heels at some point of our lives and that we’ll try various heel repair creams and treatments to get rid of it. There are a number of reasons why our heels may become dry and cracked, but luckily there are a few quick and easy ways to take care of it at home without it costing an arm and a leg.

Natural Heel Repair Treatments

Commercially-produced heel repair products contain a lot of chemicals and preservatives, some of which we can’t even pronounce much less understand. If your heels are already cracked, sore, and irritated, all these added chemicals may actually make things worse, so natural remedies may be a much gentler route. Store-bought products are usually very expensive as well, and a good heel repair cream could set you back much more than the home remedies that are just as (if not more) effective.

Heel Repair Home Remedies

1. Petroleum jelly is one of the easiest ways to moisturize dry and cracked heels. It’s cheap and may even give better results than some other highly-priced products out there.

2. Banana and avocado mashed together can be used as a natural and nourishing foot mask. Both contain a lot of fat-soluble vitamins and this is what penetrates into the skin to help restore and heal cracked heels. Add a little honey to the mask to fight infection and to boost the mask’s healing properties.

3. Rosewater and glycerin can be mixed and used as a heel repair treatment. It’s affordable and smells devine, unlike some other heel repair creams on the market today.

4. Another cheap and readily-available home remedy is using olive oil or sunflower oil. Both of these are great as moisturizers and it’s something all of us have in our kitchens already.

Boost the Effect of Home Remedies

1. Exfoliate the feet regularly. This helps get rid of dead skin cells, and in turn helps any remedy, lotion, or mask you apply to penetrate and do its best work.

Apply the cream, oil, or mask and then pull plastic bags over your feet. Wear a pair of socks over it and leave it on overnight. This is a very basic ‘foot wrap’, because the heat of the socks will help the remedy of your choice penetrate more deeply into the skin, and it’ll have all night to absorb, moisturize, and heal the skin.

Regular maintenance can make a huge difference when you’re struggling with cracked heels, and acting quickly will work in your favor as well. Well-moisturized feet are less likely to become dry and cracked, so a little regular pampering could really show results in the long run. Best of all, the remedies above are very affordable, so you’ll not only have silky and soft feet but extra cash in your wallet as well.
