Men's shoes just like women's are a matter of taste; And are important according both to the wearer and the observer. For some the shoes that you wear as a kind of guide to the type of personality you have. If your shoes are dirty and badly kept then it's is a safe bet to assume that you are careless in other life activities.
Form verses function that sort of thing go into the purchase of shoes. Comfort should always precede looks when you buy shoes. For if your unconfortable in your shoes it shows in face, your movements, your whole body; And that is not a good look!
I reccommend you invest in good quality leather shoes and I tend to go towards those shoes made in Germany England and Switzerland . The countries have a long long history of making quality and fashionable shoes.

In Australia we have the RM Williams Boot which have been around for half a century with little if any change in design or quality of manufacturer.
All these shoes and boots are made of leather and the sole and top are usually fully stitched together. If rehealed and resoled and generally looked after the shoes can last five to ten years or more. Well worth the initial investment.
Then of course finally, last but not least we have Australian made Bushmans boots by R.M. Williams again all leather look good and feel great to wear !
Giorgio Armani the Master Italian fashion designer has started making mens shoes but there up near 800 dollars retail. Unless you have money to burn Id stick with the other brands Ive mentioned...
