Silk Scarves – The Accessories to Brighten Up Your Accessories

Updated on August 25, 2015

There is no doubt - women adore accessories.  They do so with just cause. Accessories are not only beautiful but, bags, belts, hats shoes and scarves completely alter a look. They make it individual injecting perhaps eccentricity bringing notice to an otherwise average piece of clothing.  A single blast of color can transport an outfit. While other accessories do much to inject life into an ensemble, the most versatile object in this arsenal is a silk scarf.

Many women today or in the past have collected silk scarves. They have draped gracefully around our necks and over ours hips to create truly dramatic effects. We may also tie them beneath out bust line to create an Empire waist on an otherwise plain dress. Scarves have also found their way into our hair as embellishments or as sensible accessories. Silk scarves in this instance add color and/or prevent damage from the sun’s rays to our hair. Scarves thwart brittle ends and the sun’s negative impact on highlights or hair treatments. While we blithely use them in these fashions, we rarely think we can use them to accessorize our accessories.

Where would the average woman be without our purse? These bottomless pits are practical but may lack any real individuality. Sure, they differ in size, shape, colors and sizes but…. Sometimes our financial situation limits what we can afford. Yet, it is possible to add new life and create a new look that is uniquely yours using a silk scarf.

The first thing you need to do is to examine your collection of handbags. Consider all types and purposes. Look to see if any feature rings, loops or any form of hoop capable of accepting a threaded piece of material – such as a dazzling silk scarf. Co-ordinate or contrast the color if possible. This will make it truly eye-catching. If the purse lacks any such hoop, drape it around and through where the main portion of the bag and the handle intersect. Let the striking silk scarf flow down the sides or drape across the handbag material. The effect is instant, dramatic and sure to remove any bag from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

There is another option to accessorizing your accessories. If you are a hat person – and you either are or are not, take your hats out of the closets and off their hooks. Take a selection of silk scarves and hold them against the material of each scarf. Select one and drape it artfully over the brim to achieve a new look. Wrap the material around completely then tuck it in, or leave some fabric to dangle down. You can do this with any type of scarf. It will revive, recreate and rejuvenate any hat making it appear as if it were brand new.
