Vitamin B6 has a crucial role in carbohydrates and protein metabolism, and because of its key role in the formation of new cells, vitamin B6 is especially important for healthy function of body tissue that regenerates itself quickly. The skin is exactly this type of tissue, and it is one of the first to-appear- problems when B6 is deficient. Many skin disorders have been associated with B6 deficiency, like dry skin, hair loss and appearance of cracks around lips. Bananas are an excellent source of vitamin B6 which helps in treating a number of skin problems including eczema, dandruff, acne, hair loss and dry skin.
Banana contains the enzymes Amylase and Pectinase, which are responsible for ripening of banana at room temperature in temperate zones. Banana contains also an enzyme inhibitor called protease inhibitor. Protease inhibitor has antibacterial effect, and it helps eliminate bacteria in the stomach that is the primary cause of stomach ulcers. The effects of these enzymes on the face skin is not heavily investigated, nevertheless when banana is mixed with other ingredients, these enzymes analyze these ingredients into their primary constituents, which are more beneficial to the skin.

Moisturizing Banana Facial Mask
1 ------ ripe banana
1 ------ tablespoon Molasses
4-5 ---- tablespoons oats*
mineral water, to dispense
- Mash the banana, add the molasses, oats and some water to get a good consistency you are satisfied with
- Spread the banana mix on to a damp face and neck, leave for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Rinse off with lukewarm water.
*Oats fortifies the mineral content of the mask
Banana as a Scrub for Face Skin
1 cup ----------- Yogurt
2 tablespoon ---- Molasses
1 --------------- Banana,ripe,mashed
1 --------------- Apple,ripe,mashed
Mix the yogurt, molasses, mashed apple and banana together, until you get a consistent mixture. Apply to your face and neck area and leave for at least 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Banana Mask for Oily Skin
1 --------------- Banana,ripe
1 --------------- Strawberry,ripe
1 Tablespoon ---- Lemon juice
Mix the ingredients and apply to face for 15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
Banana Peel for Under-Eye and Insect Bites
Wet the inner side of banana peel (yellow side out) with some Wheat germ oil and black Cumen oil, and rub it under your eye, clean after 15-20 minutes. This will reduce the wrinkles under your eye.
You can use a similar way to rub an insect bite, by wetting the banana peel with yogurt and Aloe vera juice. This will reduce itching and swelling.
