Bras For Men | Have You Earned A Black Bra?

To wear a black bra, you must be daring. To wear a black bra, you must be bold. In wearing a black bra, you come to understand that although lingerie lies next to your skin, safely tucked away under your outer clothing, it is nevertheless a very real presence. The man who wears a black bra is a man who has mastered the arts of lingerie, he is one with the essential nature of lingerie.

Black lingerie is stylish, timeless and often lasts a great deal longer than lighter colored lingerie which becomes discolored over time and in the wash as dyes from other items of clothing invariably find their way through the aqueous medium in your wash tub and stain pale fabrics a darker color.

Anyone can purchase and wear a black bra, but only the man who has devoted serious time to his study of the nature of lingerie can wear a black bra with total confidence. He knows how the black bra can be hidden for stealth effect, he knows how it can be subtly displayed as a means of lingerie pride, and he knows how it can be shown in all its glory for full effect.

If you happen to be a man who loves lingerie, a black bra is an essential part of your wardrobe, but it is not a part of your wardrobe that you should wear lightly. Many have tried on black bras and many have failed the challenges that come with being a wearer of a black bra.

In order to successfully wear the black bra in a subtle fashion, you must have a deep understanding of the opacity of your outer garments. Is that shirt somewhat translucent under fluorescent lights? Will it give away your secrets if someone takes a picture with a powerful flash? Is there even the remotest possibility that today, somebody will throw a bucket of water over your head, and will your outerwear stand up to the challenge if that happens?

The black bra is perhaps one of the most beauteous pieces of lingerie. It comes in many forms, sometimes soft and padded, sometimes delicate and lacy, sometimes closing at the front, sometimes closing at the back, sometimes with adjustable straps that can be swapped around to form a halter bra. Do not underestimate the potential complexity of the black bra. Respect it, and wield it as you would any other totem of potent femininity.

Very good article, Hope. I also am very pleased you have reconsidered and will continue writing your articles.

To me the only color of any lingerie for men (or women)is BLACK. I am still of the old school that white is for virgin and black is for the non virgins and more daring. I have 5 black bras and one white one. But rarely do I wear the white one.

I have worn bras (cross dressed) for over fourty years (I started young) and have several black bras that I wear all the time , I am pretty careful with what I wear over them so they don't show through my shirts , but you have me thinking now ..what if someone dumped a bucket of water over my head ? ....Oh well I guess I'd be caught !

Hope , Thank you for all that you do.

Thank you for the excellent post. I just started wearing bras full time and have one black bra. I really did realize it could be so difficult to conceal.

Also please keep up the excellent work on the hubs, I find them very informative and helpful.

Do not let fear rule! Stand up, enjoy and stroll the world.

What if we didn't do anything until we were absolutely certain we would not be embarrased or would not have to explain ourselves? I believe we'd be living as stifled persons. Dread.

I all hearkens back to what grandma said. "Always have on clean underwear in case you're in a car accident." So we're expected to always be super-critical of ourselves? I'm sure that carries over to how we treat others.

Let's loosen up and enjoy. Be gracious to yourself as well as others. I'm sure I've made my point.

Yet we usually commend people who are creative and express themselves in unconventional and enjoyable--ways that push boundaries in healthy ways.

I have ventured out in a bra. I am more conscious that a friend will notice the new formation of my chest. Yet for my own expression and enjoyment I will venture out--including panties, camisole, full slip and patterned tights or pantyhose--many in brilliant colors and ornate textures.

I am not going to go through life fearing a possible accident. If that standard ruled our vehicle purchases we quite logically might all drive tanks.

Personally I like something with more comfort and better style.

Thanks for the advice, Hope. And for moderating stimulating discussion. Carp diem!

I have a drawer full of bras but only two in black - the rest are white and lacy apart from one which is pink (georgeous) and one which is floral patterned but a bit small so I don't often wear it. One of my black bras is a multiway bra which I bought to wear strapless with a little black dress with thin spangly shoulder straps. I wear a waist slip rather than a full slip with it. This bra is a bit over-engineered and not particularly comfortable and it does not really suit my physiognomy so I tend to wear the other and let the straps show. The other black one is underwired and pretty and lacy and is one of my favourites, paradoxically because of all my bras it does the least to enhance my bust profile so I can wear it under male clothes - normally under a chunky jumper so that the clasp and strap adjusters don't show.

Like Sherman I often wear panties, tights and a cami under my ordinary clothes but although slips are probably my favourite lingerie item I have never worn a slip under male clothes. I have no intention of ever going out in a dress.

Manly Man wears a black belt, and not a pantie belt either!

Erratum: make that a garter belt.

Sherman 6 years ago

Well, Sir. That's fine. Wear a black belt--cowhide, split leather or not. Even canvas web as in military or Boy Scout uniforms are optional. Whatever is your preference. As for garters I guess it depends on your stocking preference and length and whether the elastic holds.

But bulky over elasticized thick undies are just too much.
