2013 Bob Hairstyles for Women - Short, Medium, Long Hair Styles Cuts
The Bob hairstyles have not always been a popular hair style for women. Women used to wear their hair long. So, you can just imagine the outrage and horror among the public when young women started lining up at the barber shops to have their long tresses chopped.
The bob hair style was invented in 1909 by Paris hairdresser Antoine, which he said was inspired by Joan of Arc. The bob hair style, however, didn't become popular until the 1920s. The bob hair style became a symbol of the dawning of women's social and political liberation.
When I was a kid, my father used to cut my hair short bob style. I thought it was not only ugly but also so unfair, considering he let my older sister wear her hair long. But I was a little tomboy at the time, and my hair used to get awfully messy and tangled. And since my playmates were boys, my father thought it wise that I might as well look like one.
My opinion about the bob hair style has long changed over the years. The bob hairstyles have become one of my favourite hair styles with all the wonderful variations of today. Bob hair style can be short and sassy. It can be medium length and playful. It can even be long shoulder-grazing and oh so glamorous. It can be straight, curly or wavy, razor sharp, jagged, with or without fringes or bangs. Bob hairstyles can be one layer or multi-layers. There are so many trendy variations of the bob hair style, popularized by celebrities today and yesteryears.
The Castle Bob
The Castle Bob hair style was named after the celebrated ballroom dancer, Irene Castle. Castle had long flowing hair and it got in the way of her dancing. For convenience, she had her hair cut bob style in 1915. The fun-loving young women at the time loved Castle's new hair style, and the rage for short hair was on.
The bob hair style soon became a forerunner in fashion, which would eventually lead to curling, perming and hair coloring.
The original bob hair style was simply a blunt cut, level with the bottom of the ears all around the head, worn with or without bangs or fringes. The bob hair style can also be worn with the hair brushed off of the forehead.

Since the 1920s, the bob hairstyles have garnered continued popularity and have become a mainstay in hair fashion.
One of the more popular bob hair styles is known as "the Posh," from fashion icon Victoria Beckham. Thousands of women around the world have copied her bob hair styles from short bob to medium bob hairstyles. Little did everyone know that Posh had copied this bob hair style from Canadian-born "Dancing on Ice" star Kristina Lenko.
In November 2005, Kristina Lenko was asked to join the new television series "Dancing on Ice." She used to wear her hair long and needed something shorter for the new show. She then went to her stylist in Toronto and told him "Do whatever you like." The result was an asymmetric bob hair style.
Kristina Lenko's asymmetric bob, known as "the Kristina", became in demand. Fans fell in love with the quirky bob hair style and started writing to her begging for the name of her stylist. Soon Victoria Beckham was fashioning "the Kristina," and being the fashion icon that Ms. Beckham is, "the Kristina" had become "the Posh" or the "the Pob" (coined word from Posh and Bob).
Katie Holmes and Nicole Richie are two other celebrities who gave the bob hair style a big boost in popular fashion. Katie wore a classic bob hair style medium length with bangs, while Nicole fashioned a long shoulder-grazing bob style. Both bob hairstyles are chic, stylish and glamorous.
One of the trends in bob hairstyles for 2011 is the inverted bob hair style, already fashioned by Victoria Beckham. The inverted bob hair style 2011 is basically an asymmetric haircut with short hair at the back with longer hair in the front. Jennifer Aniston surprised everyone in February 2011 with her new medium length hair style. Jennifer's new hair style is a great example of an inverted medium bob hair style.
Because the bob hairstyles are so versatile, the bob hair styles will be in fashion for many more generations to come.
Here are some trendy bob hairstyles in 2013 for short, medium and long hair styles.
