Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Bored with your looks? Seeing the same old you in the mirror? Need a change?

Easy. Change the colour of your eyes and you will be amazed how different you will look. Add a glint of charm and glamour to your eyes. Some people say the eyes are the key to the soul and some say the most attractive feature of a person is the eyes. When you talk to someone, you look them in the eye. Hence, your eyes play a huge role in communication. If your eyes are attractive, you are attractive.

How to change the colour of your eyes? Nowadays it’s so simple. Just wear a pair of coloured cosmetic contact lenses. These are NON PRESCRIPTION contact lenses.

Before getting a pair of coloured contact lenses, you need to know this basic information. There are two types of coloured contact lenses. The first type is enhancement lens. Enhancement lens has a transparent tint of colour which will enhance your eye’s natural colour. Thus, enhancement lens is not suitable for people with dark brown eyes as there will be hardly any effect. The second type is opaque lens. Opaque lens has a layer of colour on it. Opaque lens is suitable for light, medium and dark eyes because the colour on it conceals your natural eye colour. You may wonder then how can the wearer see? Opaque lens has colours and patterns at the outer rim and towards the center it’s transparent. That’s the reason why wearing certain coloured cosmetic contact lenses can make your eyes appear to be larger.

What colour makes me look better?

The variety of colours available is mind bogging especially for those who just started to explore wearing coloured contact lenses. How do you choose the colour that suits you?

Listed below is a general guide.

What do you expect from wearing coloured contact lenses?

a) I expect people to notice my new eye colour and I want them to ask me about it. I am bold and comfortable being the center of attention.

Choose an eye colour that everyone notices immediately.

If your skin, hair and natural eye colors have cool, blue undertones, you can select a warm toned coloured contact lens such as light brown.

If your skin is dark, you can select bright coloured contact lenses.

If you wear eye makeup, pick a contact lens colour that will stand out from the eye shadow and mascara colours that you wear.

If your natural eye color is brown, you can select contact lenses in violet, green or blue.

If you have dark brown eyes, selecting a light green or blue colour contact lenses, your natural brown colour will show through a little towards the pupil of your eyes. You may like this effect.

b) I expect people to notice that I look different but do not know exactly why. I am shy or I just want to have a natural look.

If your natural eye colour is blue, you can select lighter colours such as a different shades of blue, gray, green, hazel, amber or purple.

If your natural eye colour is dark, you can select darker colours such as different shades of brown, darker blues, darker purples and darker greens.

The trick is to stay within a few shades of your original eye colour.

If your skin, hair, makeup and natural eye colours are warm toned, you can select a warm colour contact lens such as hazel to match and blend in.

Wear enhancement lens which is the same basic colour as your eyes, which would define the edges of your iris and deepen your natural colour, but not change it dramatically.

Are People With Brown Eyes More Intelligent?

The personality trait most associated with brown eyes is intelligence, according to a survey of U.S. women ages 16 to 35. Besides intelligence (34 %), brown eyes also convey trustworthiness (16 %) and kindness (13 %), said respondents.

Blue-eyed people are seen to exude sweetness (42 %), sexiness (21 %), and kindness (10 %). And green eyes are associated with sexiness (29 %), creativity (25 %) and deviousness (20 %).

60% of the respondents said they'd like to change their eye color, with 27 % choosing green. Then came amethyst (26 %) and blue (18 %). Turquoise, gray, honey and brown were the next choices, in that order.

This survey was conducted by CyberPulse and commissioned by FreshLook.
