Is there Such A Thing As Cheap Acne Scar Removal?

Hmm. That's a tricky one. Many scar treatments cost hundreds of dollars, or more depending on how extreme you're going. For example, surgery for scars costs anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. It's also a fairly risky sort of procedure that you should attempt only with caution. So, aha you might think, I'll use some creams, that'll work! So you go and buy a bottle or a jar of designer acne scar removal ointment pay anywhere from $50 to $100 for it, then read on the back 'Two or more treatments are usually required'. Darn!

Surely there's a cheaper option. Well, there are always acne home remedies. They might not have the advertising power that other scar removal products have, but you know they are certainly worth a shot. They're a hang of a lot cheaper at any rate. Let's have a look at some effective, cheap acne scar removal home remedies. Yeah… let's do that.

Silicone

You can buy silicone fairly easily, like those at supermarkets. It usually comes in either sheets or as a gel and is applied to the scar in the case of the gel or is taped on with medical tape if you're using sheets. Here's the kicker: People don't actually know how silicone helps scarring. It could be to do with the way that the silicone traps moisture leading to a softening scar appearance. It could be to do with something completely different - who knows!

Some researchers also think that the static electricity that's formed in the tissue (with the silicone) helps align the collagen fibers which make up the scar, leading to a more natural result.

Silicone has been known to improve the appearance of scars dramatically though, so make sure that you give it a shot.

If you're not comfortable with using products that aren't really known how they work properly then you might want to step out of society (or at least the mainstream medicine world!). Or try something different if you're not willing to leave your community :-)

Alpha Hydroxy Acids

I'm just trying to scare you with big complicated words now…

Alpha Hydroxy Acidsare a type of acid that are found in fruits, the most famous of scar treating fruits is the humble lemon. They are used to exfoliate (remove) dead skin which can lead to the improvement of scars. There are many different types of these acids that you can use to reduce scars. Other then citric acid you might find lactic acid a more milder option if you have sensitive skin. Lactic acids are of course found in dairy products like milk and cheese etc. It's also found in sourdough bread, but applying that to your scars would look really weird.

Ice

This is a treatment that I try to avoid, however it's worth a mention. Be warned though: It takes regular commitment on your part to fix your acne scars with ice cubes. People however who have tried ice before swear by it so if you really want a boost in your appearance then give it a go. Apply ice cubes 2-3 times a day for at least ten minutes. As I said, it takes commitment, but regular application of ice on acne scars can work wonders for those.

You might end up with a wet face from all the melted ice so make sure you have a small towel handy to mop up when you're done. Don't believe me that ice works? Try it for a couple of weeks then come back and tell me it doesn't work.

The ice facial one really works. I had been using salicylic acid, toners, benzoyl peroxide, and just about every at home treatment you can think of. I started using ice because I figured I had nothing to lose. It's really cold, but it is super effective at tightening pores and shrinking pimples, as well as fading scars. I highly recommend that one for anyone who is truly suffering with acne.
