Cole Haan Sandals, Ballets, Slippers Shoes Review: Gladiator, Criss-Cross, Thong, Flat, Heels, MJ, Lace
Cole Haan Summer&Spring
Though several sandal collections Cole Haan offer deploy heels, most of this quintessential summer footwear made by the brand rests on a flat sole, or a very low, barely discernible heel. Establishing comfort and air flow becomes the primary objective in sandal designs, while the ballets also display a strong preference for tight, foot-enveloping, extra-secured architecture that render them a reliable and effective dance or casual shoes.
All in all, sandals, ballets and slippers comprise nearly a hundred different collections manufactured in various colors (a notable variety marks a departure from the black and brown preference in the boots&booties, and heels&pumps: yellow, red, white, silver, purple, green, and blue introduce a richer than usual palette) and materials.
While leather, in all its variations, remains the main material, Cole Haan also deploy suede, haircalf, shearling, polyurethane, and rubber for both complementary and primary shoe parts (upper, sole, insole, heels, slings); decorative elements include bows, laces (quite elaborate – almost tassel-like), and studs. Let's take a closer look at some of the collections:
Air Jasmine, Deandra and Vernonia present classic gladiator type sandals with weaved or more modern cut-out leather (nubuck, full grain, nappa) straps and a thin, flat rubber sole. Comfort and lots of breathing space render these show particularly suitable for the summer season.
Air Maddy Tantivy, Criss-Cross, Thong displays a semi-clog slip-on design showing unapologetic casual build aimed at everyday use in a variety of informal occasions. Air Violet heeled sandal collection provides a more fashion conscious, evening wear alternative.
Air Cassandra and Stephanie overlap with both booties and pumps segments, offering a semi-casual, elegant look in a slip-on or broad sling design.
Ballets category includes some of Cole Haan most youthful and colorful shoes: the flat layout contributes (even subconsciously) to a more relaxed character – unless, of course, the wearer actually has a dancing routine to perform. The slightly slouched leather emphasizes the casual aesthetic.
Decoration and ornament become important components, with many of the shoes carrying an buckle, a bow, a lace, a studded strap, or other interest creating detail. Collections: Olivia, Bria, Bacara, Tali, Bandon, Zelo, and others.
Slippers section offers the Katelyn line, a warm winter comfort shoe with a tantivy metallic buckle. Black, red, brown, and leopard print colors.
