Color Changing Nail Polish – Changes with Your Mood

For years, women have enjoyed the vast and ever-growing number of nail polish colors available to us to enhance the look of our nails. There is a style available in just about every color, shade, and finish you could ever imagine. Literally dozens of new products hit store shelves every month.

Even the process of having it applied or switching to a different brand or color has become somewhat of an enjoyable beauty ritual. I always relax in the fleeting few moments of solitude I am able to enjoy while getting a manicure. Thought you had seen it all when it comes to new ideas for your nails? Not so fast, one of the hottest new beauty trends in years could have you quickly rethinking your options.

Color Changing Nail Polish

Painting your nails or having them done at a salon used to mean you selected a color and that was what you wore until the next time you changed out your polish; not anymore! Several companies have come out with unique new products that changes color while you wear it. Sometimes referred to as "mood polish", this unique lacquer responds to changes in either light or heat and transforms right before your eyes into another brilliant shade.

There are a number of different varieties available to suit your own personal style. They range from subtle pastels that move between a soft pink and a more distinct solid hue to more bold transformations that can go from a sparkly blue to a deep green. The most dramatic changes occur when you move from being indoors to outside in direct sunlight or when you go from sitting idle to working out at the gym. The colors will continue to change back and forth until you decide to remove the polish or switch to a different style or color combination.

Which ones are the best?

There are three major brands on the market that I am aware of that have a line of mood or color-change polish. Toma, Claire's, and Del Sol each have at least three unique styles available. The best one I've tried so far is Del Sol.

They offer the largest selection of choices and their products are very durable. In addition to being lots of fun, they hold up very well to the stresses of daily life and are quite resistant to chipping, scratching, and fading.

My personal favorites so far are the "Day Dreamer" which transitions back and forth between a light iridescent purple and deep lilac with a hint of sparkle and the "First Kiss" which starts off as a soft pink and changes to a bright cranberry in direct sunlight. There are plenty of other options to choose from, they have close to 30 different styles. The other brands are fun too, they just don't have nearly as many options to choose from and some of them are geared toward a younger crowd. Del Sol seems to have a little something for everyone young, old, or in-between.

What makes them so much fun?

If you get bored with your traditional manicure style and don't like to deal with the time consuming and sometimes expensive process of changing your nail polish out completely, this offers an attractive alternative. You can enjoy a little variety and keep the same finish at the same time.

If you like to be a trendsetter, these are a great way to go because they certainly draw a lot of attention and curiosity. I can't tell you how many people told me how cool they thought it was the last time I had one on! I don't know about you, but I've always enjoyed getting a bunch of compliments from others when I go out.

This is a nice affordable way to get great style without having to spend a fortune. In fact, you can buy most of these polishes for under $12! It's easy to get stuck in the rut of doing the same thing over and over, this can offer a fresh new value priced accessory in your beauty cabinet.

You never know, with the right mood polish you might even provide a little advanced warning to your husband or boyfriend when you're about to go on the warpath. I know a few people around me who might appreciate that! If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, why not break out of your routine and try something new and fun with your beauty routine for a change?

Interesting I go to a salon to get my nails done (that's my "me time" for pampering) however, the lady's have not told me about this nail polish. I'm going to have to ask about this, it sounds like it would be fun. Thanks for sharing. :)
