Comfortable Shoes For Achy Feet

Updated on February 12, 2018

Comfortable Shoes For The Feet

Years ago I broke my little toe on my left foot. Since that time, I have been unable to wear heels for any length of time. After an hour, my puppies are barking.

After years of heels and fun shoes, a nerve between my second and third toe on my left foot became inflamed and uncomfortable. A trip to the foot doctor confirmed that I needed to take some action to calm the throbbing pain. I endured seven injections of alcohol between the toes to kill the nerve that was giving me so much trouble. Eventually the pain subsided and my walking became more natural and pain free.

The Residual Effects

The effects of my extensive shot regiment is such that walking barefoot on cement or tile is very uncomfortable, like walking on chipped glass. It is essential that I wear shoes at all times.

After years of wearing cute shoes, I find it more difficult to find shoes that I like to wear. With the passing of time, the shoe manufacturers seem to be producing more of a shoe selection for clients with foot issues. Not everything on their shelves are high heels. It is getting easier to locate shoe styles that are both comfortable and appealing.

Different Styles and Different Brands

There are several retailers that specialize in comfortable shoes. Sass is well known for its sturdy shoes. Sketchers are popular with many crowds because of their casual styles and comfort. They carry selections from tennis shoes to dress shoes. I have worn both and find them to be good resources.

Many other shoe manufacturers like Dr. Scholls carry a selection of styles in their lines that are functional and comfortable. As our population ages, foot injuries and age present a different need for both men and women. Support and comfort are essential.

Our society has become more casual both in and out of the office. Women are wearing pants most of the time for many functions. This particular attire makes it easier to find a suitable shoe.

Pad Those Feet

One option available to those with foot pain are shoe inserts or shoe pads. They provide the lift and comfort needed to wear shoes with comfort. If you don't like the sturdier shoes, pad your favorite pair of shoes and make them more comfortable. Find out what area of the shoe needs the extra comfort and apply a pad for foot protection. Your feet will love you for it!
