Dress Like Zooey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel's style is created by putting a spin on vintage classics. She wears short skirts, dresses, or shorts with bold colors, stripes, and lots of polka dots. She pairs modern staples with vintage-looking pieces to create unique outfits. As a singer in She & Him (with M. Ward) and an actress (also producer) in the popular show, New Girl, she has had plenty of opportunities to display her quirky yet adorable fashion sense to the world.
Recently, she added designer to her long list of talents. She collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger to create a capsule collection aptly named, "To Tommy, From Zooey". In addition to red, white, and blue (Tommy Hifiger's signature colors) being used in every outfit, Zooey also added her retro sensibility to each piece. She was inspired by the styles of Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, and Mary Tyler Moore as she helped design the sporty, nautical, and chic clothing.
Dress Like Zooey
Zooey wore a long sleeved sheer black dress with white polka dots. The A-line skirt and the polka dots are reminiscent of the 1950s. You can wear a similar dress like this Astor & Slade polka dot mini dress ($87).
She looked casual yet cool in a striped sweater, black shorts, and sheer black tights. Make the look more summery with a striped t-shirt, high-waisted black shorts, and red sandals. You can find these pieces at Target or Forever 21.
Jess, her character on New Girl, wore a pom pom sweater and a black skirt. You can get a similar sweater at J.crew ($79.50) or make your own by hot gluing poms poms onto a plain sweater. Pair it with a button down shirt and dressy jeans to create a layered look.
This outfit, from her Tommy Hilfiger collection, has a 60's vibe with its short navy skirt and vibrant red sleeveless top. You will look just as polished when you pair a black or navy striped skirt with a red or orange button down shirt.
