Eva Longoria Dresses: Strapless Dresses

Updated on December 8, 2012

Eva Longoria is one of my absolute favorite style celebs. Not only does she have exceptional taste in clothing, but she knows how to dress her petite figure as well. I love how she stays true to what she likes, but always manages to enhance her small frame. At just under 5'2", she manages to take full advantage of every inch, and always works to elongate her frame.

I'm always checking out what she is wearing because we are almost identical in height and weight! Eva's "go-to" style look, particularly for evening events, is the strapless dress. The styles, colors, lengths and even bodice shape may change, but the strapless aspect of the dress is always present. The strapless look is excellent for petite figures, as it accents the shoulders, arms and narrow waist, and brings "the girls" up!

The strapless look is very elegant and also quite versatile. There are numerous ways for a strapless shape to be designed, to change it's entire look.

Cream & Spice

This is one of Eva's more classic looks. The pairing of cream and black is divine, especially in a satin. I love how her shoes and clutch is also incorporated into her look. The satin shoes are gorgeous and her clutch is clean and understated. The jewelry is perfect because it breaks down the old-fashioned fashion rule: Don't mix jewelry types. You can absolutely wear both gold and silver jewelry in one cohesive look!

Eva Longoria Evening Gowns

I love how dramatic and long Eva is willing to go on the Red Carpet. I tend to shy away from long gowns or dresses because of my height, but it goes to show that, with the right tailoring, anyone can wear a ball gown. She loves to add drama either in the fabric or cut, but keeps the colors muted to one tone. Eva does not go heavy on the jewels even on a red carpet.

Notice how Eva always accentuates her collarbone and chest area by not wearing any necklaces? She rarely wears a necklace when wearing a strapless dress.

Go Flirty & Girly!

Eva loves fun and bright patterns and colors. I'm no exception! I absolutely love the dress she wore to the Alma Awards in 2008. The color is vibrant and she makes the animal print look fabulous. Animal print, when chosen incorrectly, can look cheap and gaudy. Here however, the look is to die for because the flow-y nature of the dress balances out the print. I also adore the sweetheart neckline, perfect for those who are a bit flat on top, and she branched out of her comfort zone by wearing a bold necklace!

Try a dress like this at home! Style tip: Be sure the "flow" of the dress doesn't start out too high. You don't want to be dwarfed by the dress if you are too petite.

The second look is also gorgeous and girly. The corset top maximizes Eva's curves and the chiffon bottom is perfect tailored to the top. I love how minimal this look is, which adds a sexuality, in my opinion. She has no jewelry on and her hair looks natural and voluminous.

Try this look at home: Go tight on top and loose on the bottom. Be sure the corset fits just right, you do want to breath!

This black dress is one of my favorite looks. The corset top Eva loves has a hint of sensuality in the cut detail. I also am in LOVE with this length for petites. Just below the knee is perfect for accentuating a small frame. I see many petite girls who stick to mini-skirts/dresses because they feel it is the only way to elongate their frames, which is just not true! (As evidenced here)

Try this look out tonight: Wear a corset top with a voluminous skirt. The bigger the better as long as it starts out just at the waist. (No higher/no lower). Keep your jewelry simple, as the look is pretty bold by itself! If you want more volume, go for a double layered one like Eva's.

Casual Chic

Casual Chica

Eva wears strapless even on her days off! She loves this silhouette, and wears it for casual outfits as well. It's makes for an easy, pulled-together look.

Try one for yourself: Go with a natural color. What I mean is, avoid jewel tones and glitter, which is very reminiscent of evening-wear. You want to look appropriate for daytime. Try a coral, pastel color or white. Add on as much fun jewelry as you'd like!
