How To Do Your Own Manicures At Home

Things You Will Need

  • Nail file
  • nail polish
  • nail polish remover
  • bowl of water
  • cuticle stick
  • lotion
  • nail buffer
  • base coat
  • top coat

Step One

If you already have nail polish on your fingernails, use a cotton ball to remove it. Pour some nail polish remover on the cotton ball. Gently rub you finger nail removing all the polish. Do every finger nail until all polish is removed.

Clean Under Nails

Step Two

Take your nail file and use the pointed end to remove any dirt you may have under your finger nails.

File Nails

Step Three

After cleaning under your nails use the nail file to file your nails. Doing so will make sure the edge of your nails isn't uneven. When filing your nails file only in one direction, not back and forth. Going back and forth can cause little chips along the edge.

Soak Nails

Step Four

Fill a bowl up with some water, place your fingers inside. Soaking your nails for about a minute, this softens your cuticles.

Push Cuticles

Step Five

After soaking your fingers use your cuticle stick to gently push back your cuticles. If you have a hard time pushing your cuticles back, soak them a bit longer.

Buff Nails

Step Six

Rub your favorite lotion onto your hand and rub into your finger nails aswell. Use your nail buffer on your nail. This makes them more smooth and shiny looking.

Finished Look

Step Seven

Time to apply the base coat to all your nails, allow to dry. Now get your favorite colour of nail polish and paint your nails. Once all your nails are dry apply a second coat. When that is dry all you have left to do is put a top coat on to help prevent your polish from chipping.

Wonderful hub! Thanks for sharing. I usually go out to the nail salon for my manicure. I followed the instructions with the pictures and wow, I did it by myself. Thanks for sharing.
