How To Get Rid Of Acne Scars

Acne scars are an unsightly reminder of how bad your skin used to be. Learning how to get rid of acne scars will alleviate that reminder. They can range in severity from mild waving to deep pockets on the skins surface. Either way, no one want to have them on their face.

There are many ways to get rid of acne scars. They range from acne scar removal cream treatments, to chemical peels, and for the most severe cases laser scar removal. Each method has its merits and I recommend that you start at the low-end (creams) and work your way up. If your acne scars can be treated with over the counter creams, you can save yourself a lot of money, rather than jumping directly into a doctor's treatment.

The fundamental function of acne scar removal treatments, as well as all scar treatments, is the same. If the collagen in the skin can be stimulated into generating new skin, the scars will fade away. Laser treatment and chemical peels will make this happen much quicker than using creams, but you pay handsomely for the instant results.

It's very important that you are no longer having acne breakouts before treating scars. If you still frequently get breakouts, the process of removing the scars will have to be repeated again. If you are still frequently getting breakouts, a combination of a healthy diet and acne treatment medication will help you take care of it. Be sure that even after you stop the acne treatment and go to just washing your face your acne still stays away before beginning acne scar treatment.

How To Get Rid Of Acne Scars With Creams

If you're wondering how to get rid of acne scars in a more natural way, creams are the way to go.

Acne scar removal creams work great on mild acne scarring. For more severe cases, they can help reduce the appearance, but will likely not resolve the problem. The creams are applied directly onto the scars and allowed to set for a bit while the drug in the cream does its work.

As I said above, start with an acne scar removal cream before going in for a doctor's procedure. If your scars can be taken care of with the cream, you will save a ton of money. A tube of scar removal cream will run about $30 and you may need two or three tubes to completely rid yourself of the scars. That equals out to $90 compared to the thousands of dollars you will spend on laser treatment.

The most popular acne scar removal cream on the market right now is called Mederma. It is a safe and effective cream that is applied 3-4 times a day on affected areas for 3-6 months. It also works on stretch marks and burn scars. My favorite thing about Mederma is one of the active ingredients is onion, a very natural ingredient. How to get rid of acne scars with onion? I don't know, but it works!

How To Get Rid Of Acne Scars With Chemical Peels

Chemical peels "burn" off acne scars and stimulate the collagen beneath to grow new skin. These treatments are very effective for mild acne scarring. They can only be performed by a doctor, so pay a visit to your dermatologist is this method is right for you. The doctor will give you the best advice for how to get rid of acne scars, especially with severe cases.

The treated area will be red and tender for the first week or so after treatment. Many patients reported breakouts directly after treatment that went away in about a week.

Laser Acne Scar Removal

When doing research on how to get rid of acne scars, laser removal is usually the first thing that pops up, but laser treatment should be considered your last option to get rid of acne scars. The only reason for this is its cost. Compared to the other two treatments listed above, it is significantly more expensive. The treatment is very effective and safe, especially for severe scarring.

With most of the laser treatment procedures, the laser is housed in a wand-style unit and the doctor targets only the scarred areas, leaving the good skin alone. Post-procedure, the skin is left red and sensitive, but that fades within a week or so. You must avoid exposure to the sun, wearing makeup, and other things that may irritate the skin until the skin has healed.

Who would have ever though that the Death Star and Moonraker would teach doctors how to get rid of acne scars?!

You've provided several ways to remove or at least diminish how acne scars look on one's face. What about the types of skin one has? Does that factor in one's choice of method?

Using creams is one of the best ways to get rid of those acnes and their spots.

However to prevent those acnes in futurel;

After exercise shower using medicated exfoliant cleanser ande always be gentle on your skin.

wear as little make-up as possible when exercising.

Great info! I agree that there are high costs attached to laser treatments, but I used laser resurfacing to remove acne scarring (I had deep holes in my skin) and now my skin is totally fine.

To this day the thought of lasers still scares me, I found a much better way of doing it (a few ways actually, one only requiring a towel!)

As a teenager I suffered from severe acne, but I found a simple solution via a local morning news show a few years back. It sounds wierd, but a mask of strawberry yogurt cleared the zits from my face in 2 days. I don't know if it will work as well for everyone, but you can use the link below to try it.
