How to Get Rid of a Scar Fast

Is there a way to get rid of a scar fast? Well, not really. However there are a number of great tips and tricks that you can use in order to reduce the appearance of a scar rather quickly. Some of the items on this list are kind cheating but unfortunately due to the nature of scarring it's very hard to reduce a scar quickly. Thankfully, we can bend those rules a little :-)

It's not the best option long term, but it's good for short term application.

I told you that we'd be cheating, right? Go down to your local makeup or stage shop and find a powder or other piece of product that matches your skin tone as much as possible. I was able to get a very big bottle for about $20. I bought it 6 months ago and it hasn't run out yet. The key to hiding scars with makeup is to be subtle about it. You cannot just jump on in and smear it all over yourself. You know when someone's done a bad Photoshop job that the skin looks all plastic and unnatural? This is what you can end up like if you're not careful :-)

Instead, just dab it on gently. Less is more. Makeup artists will tell you differently but those actors and actresses are viewed from a long distance so that you won't notice the lashings they apply. Make sure you use makeup only when necessary and wash it off well when you're done. This last tip is crucial to making sure that you don't make your scar worse.

Skin Lightening

This is for people who have got scars the are red (like the one in the picture). Skin lightening products change the production of melanin in the skin in order to lighten it. It's not suggested long term however it is good to fade a scar in with the rest of the skin fairly quickly and easily. The key as usual is to make sure that you only apply the product to the scar in question. If you apply it to the outside of the scar as well (directly onto good skin) then you'll lighten that as well!

Skin lightening products aren't that hard to come by and they can be found in pharmacies and in supermarkets. They can also be purchased on the internet however make sure that you have had a personal recommendation first. Remember that if it's cheap - it's probably not very good.

Ice has been an effective scar treater for quite some time now and it isn't quite as cheating as the other options. Ice hydrates your skin and due to the coldness, stretches and loosens up the scar. This can be an excellent item to apply when you're after a solution quickly or if you have any sunken scars (like acne scarring). Simply apply the ice to the affected area and hold on for as long as possible (preferably around 10 minutes). Remember that ice is very cold and as such you might want to hold it through a cloth or something else as your hands will feel worse then the area you're treating.

It's not a perfect solution, but combined with some other ones ice can be very effective. Try to use it twice a day for the best results.

Any other ways?

I did tell you that this was going to be kind of cheating. However when used appropriately, you can get some fast changes in the appearance of your scars. ALWAYS use another product or other technique that will work longer term. For a more proven method, please take a look at the Scar Solution.
