Kerasoft: The Wash & Wear Relaxer for Women of Color

Did You Know?

Thanks to Madame C. J. Walker's hot steel comb, Black women would "press" their hair for almost 100 years prior to the introduction of hair relaxers.

A Girl Can Dream, Can't She?

Like most women, I would always look through my favorite magazines like Essence or Jet and fold the page corners over, thinking to myself, "I'm going to get my hair done like that!" I've done it so often that I could probably make hundreds of paper airplanes just from those pages alone!

After growing up in the 70s, I'm no stranger to pressing combs, no-lye relaxers and (pause) jheri curls. I've looked to the four corners of the Earth to find something to tame my kinky hair, so I too could partake in all those gorgeous hairstyles that are collecting dust.

I came across a product that has apparently been around for some years, Kerasoft. Created by Asha McLeod, a globally recognized hair talent, who is also the founder of Jazma Hair Inc. (an upscale hair salon in Toronto, Canada), promises to whip my super curly hair into shape. After doing research, I discovered that their Wash and Wear relaxer actually retexturizes kinky and curly hair without all the over-processing I would get from a traditional no-lye relaxer.

For me, that means no more chemical burns, no more hair breakage and no more bone-straight hair that feels...hard and brittle, as well as limp and lifeless. Count me in!

Stop the Presses, There's Hope for our Hair!

Naturally, before trying a product that deals with something as treasured as your hair, you want to know how it came to be. I know that I immediately would want to know off the back how much it costs and what the outcome should be.

Unlike other mainstream relaxers that you get in retail stores, the Kerasoft system is designed to allow women with kinky or super curly hair to keep our natural hair pattern, but add manageability and softness to the equation.

When Asha and her team of expert stylists collaborated on Kerasoft's Wash & Wear relaxer, the intention was to help retain most of our natural curl (like in the picture above) while still having the option to blow dry it straight (like in the picture below). Without using the higher heat setting needed to get a smooth look.

Texturized Hair

Texturized hair is exactly what you see on the first and last models pictured here. It's a softer, more manageable version of going natural, but the curls are not as tight and the outcome is amazing as you see here. After using Kerasoft's Wash & Wear Relaxer, you can shampoo, rinse, condition and walk out the door. No greasy chemicals dripping from your hair, just beautiful hair that looks like a million bucks, and more in line with our natural curl pattern.

Kick it up a Notch...

I am excited about the prospect of this Wash & Wear Relaxer. To have an opportunity to actually be able to embrace the natural side of my hair, without having to pick it out into a Pam Grier afro, while still looking youthful and sexy is quite impressive.

So now, I can finally get out all those old magazines, brush off the dust and have a hair party. That's what being a girl is all about, right?

Hey Dee! I went back to their we site and have some information for you ( I wanted to make sure I was correct before I responded). You can only purchase their products directly from them. If you live in or near Toronto, you can go to their salon. Otherwise you will have to go to their site. Here is their link:

http://www.jazma.com/black-hair-care-products. They talk about pricing on there a bit. Let me know if you need more assistance.

How much does it cost? I click on a couple of your links and looked it up online but didn't seem to get a good price answer. Can it be found in stores? I would love to try it, and I have a friends who has very thick hair that on any given day want to shave it all off.....LOL

Thanks Dee! I can't wait to try it out. My hair desperately needs the help and I would give anything for my hair to look half as good as these ladies' hair! Thanks for stopping by!
