Girls, Kids, Babies and Childrens Easter Hats and Bonnets

One of my favorite times of the year is Easter. I love going to church and seeing all the children and kids with their new Easter clothes, hats and bonnets on. This year I have 3 grand-daughters that I get to enjoy and it will be fun to see what their mothers dress them in. Because I love little girls clothing, I have put together some of my favorite girls Easter hats and bonnets that I would love to see my own grandchildren in. I am going to probably purchase some of these for my own grand-kids, and because I love things that serve more than one purpose, I will probably buy hats for them that they can wear more than once.

I have always loved blue and white nautica. Perhaps it's because my dad was in the Navy. This little outfit is so clean and classy looking!

Classic blue and white Easter outfit

For my 2 year old grand-daughter, I would buy this cute little blue and white nautical 3 piece set with the matching hat. This set would be adorable to not only wear at Easter but she could also wear this outfit in the summer and for any other special events that mom and dad take her too. I love the classy little blue and white sailor theme. The hat could also be worn with other outfits or even be a cute accent to wear with a pair of jeans and plain top. I love this little outfit!

My second choice would be this cute little raspberry colored sun hat with a big peony flower on it. This hat would not only be a great Easter hat but would be an awesome summer hat for our California summers.

Easter hats for newborns, babies and preemies

I don't have any newborn grand-babies this Easter, but I found some adorable little Easter hats and bonnets for both newborn babies, preemie and babies under 12 months. Since babies grow so fast, I think the little beanie style hats are great - you can use them for Easter and also as a head warmer on cold nights.

What would be cute is to also have the wee one wear some classic bunny ears for Easter. They might even be able to make it to Halloween and you could use them to dress baby in a bunny costume!

More cute "beanie" and cap style Easter hats for babies

Although I love pink and white for girls, I also love brown and pink together. The little brown beanie with the pink is one of my favorites. This would make a great all around beanie for any day.

More traditional Easter bonnets and hats

Growing up, it was not uncommon to hear Easter hats called "Easter bonnets". I could see my older grand-daughters wearing one these "bonnets" for Easter - and they too could also be used during the summer. Modern Easter bonnets for children are usually white wide-brimmed hats with a pastel colored satin ribbon around it and tied in a bow. It may also have flowers or other springtime motifs on top, and may match a special dress picked out for the occasion. Some of the sets I looked at included the outfit, which would be nice for a church service, a formal Easter dinner or special event. Out of curiosity, I wondered where the term bonnet came from, and this is what Wikipedia has to say about bonnets (I love the little "song" about bonnets that Irving Berlin penned)

From Wiki:

"An Easter Bonnet represents the tail-end of a tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter, in harmony with the renewal of the year and the promise of spiritual renewal and redemption"

The "Easter bonnet" was fixed in popular culture by Irving Berlin, whose frame of reference was the Easter parade in New York City, a festive walkabout that made its way down Fifth Avenue from St. Patrick's Cathedral:

In your Easter bonnet
with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.

"At the depths of the Great Depression a new hat at Easter, or a refurbished old one, was a simple luxury. The self-consciously quaint "bonnet", which had been tongue-in-cheek euphemism for a hat for more than a generation, supplied Berlin with his rhyme."

Little girls are fun to dress

I hope you enjoyed my hub on girls, babies and children's Easter hats and bonnets. It's always fun for me to review products, especially ones that I am considering purchasing for my own children or grandchildren. I have carefully gone and through and selected products that I would buy for my own, with consideration to usefulness, beauty and price. In closing, the last hat featured is my all time favorite, but unfortunately it's too small for any of my grandchildren! I would definitely buy this hat for them to wear all the time - it's just too cute!
