Latest Ideas: Tattoo Designs and Placements

What makes a successful tattoo? Is it a great design or an awesome theme or proper placement? A successful tattoo should have all the three ingredients in equal proportion. A thematic tattoo is a combination of several tatts on your body that depicts a particular theme. But each individual design in that theme should be excellent and they must be properly placed.

Conventional tatts are no more the right choice for many people! With the advent of customized designer tatts, guys and girls are becoming more inclined towards designs that are extremely personalized. They try to ink an exclusive design for them. But this requires sound knowledge and huge information. Finally an exclusive tattoo is created when the client and the tattoo designer sitting together finalize what’s going to be inked.

In my endeavor to help readers in acquiring right knowledge and information, I have written this article. You will find loads of design and placements ideas… so read on!

Latest Trend in Placement: Arm, Sleeve and Wrist Tattoos

Arm tatts have been immensely popular in men. Now it’s time to paint your sleeve or forearm with your favorite tattoo because this is the latest trend, not only for men but for women also! Most recently, tattoos are also painted starting from the shoulder joint area up to the wrist. If you are not comfortable with such a long design you can always select a particular area in this zone.

What Should I Ink?

That is the most valid question. I am in the camp that doesn’t prefer conventional designs any more! Instead we prefer customized tattoo designs or to be more precise “designer tattoos”. In that case you have to consult your tattoo designer or artist to select what is best suited for you and how would you visualize it and then translate it into a tattoo.

Let me try to make you understand with an example. Pick up the “Two Personalities in One” tattoo in the gallery. In this image it is shown that there always resides a bad human being inside a good human being. If this line of thought is strongly related with your life you can paint such a tattoo.

Latest Designs: Ambigram Tattoos

Ambigram tattoos are text tattoos with special effects that are created to depict your feeling about some highly meaningful and significant words in your life. For example, if you believe “love” and “hope” are two extremely meaningful words in your life you can get them tattooed onto your body. In general, ambigram is a writing style where a word or a pair of words appears symmetrical from certain angles.

Single Word Ambigram:

In a single word ambigram you can choose your name or one of the names of your loved ones. Or you can select a word that inspires you living your life. Words like “dream”, “strength”, “love”, “trust” etc. are very popular.

Double Word Ambigram:

In paired or double word ambigram, pairs like “home – away”, “truth – faith”, “saint – sinner”, “love – hope” etc. are quite popular. You can create your own pair that is most suitable for you. For example, you can select your name and the name of your loved one (look at the Carley – Willie tattoo in the gallery, they are actually daughter and father). Consult your tattoo artist to know if it is possible to create an ambigram with these words.

Placements: These tattoos are most suitable for your arm and sleeve. The next preferred areas are rib cage, back and leg.

Today prosthetic limb implantation is very much a part of our life. Perhaps we already belong to the cyborg age and that’s why biomech tatts are one of the most happening designs of today!

A biomechanical tattoo shows the mechanical parts just underneath your flesh. This is possible because you imagine yourself as a cyborg. Latest Designs: Sankofa Tattoos

Sankofa is a famous and beautiful Adinkra (symbol) of the Akan people lived in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire of West Africa. SANKOFA is derived from the words SAN (return), KO (go), FA (look, seek and take). The symbol is based on a mythical bird that flies forward with its head turned backward, which signifies “returning to our roots”.This reflects the Akan belief that our past should guide us in planning our future.

The Akan group of people consisting mainly of two sub-groups, Ashanti and Fante, were well known for their metallic and ceramic arts, wooden carvings and textile knitting. Sankofa symbolism was a prominent part in each of these forms of visual art. The soul of any Sankofa symbol is a parabolic curve that essentially symbolizes the Akan belief.

Recently Sankofa symbols are being used in tattoos mainly by women all over the world. Most popular Sankofa tattoos are the images Sankofa bird, apart from hearts and patterns consisting of those parabolic curves.
