Maintaining Red Hair With Use of L'Oreal Excellence HiColor For Dark Hair Only

After 4-weeks
After 4-weeks

It's been about 4 weeks since I've dyed my hair with L'Oreal's For Dark Hair Only, and as far as I can tell the red has faded, but not so much that it isn't red anymore. It's just a lighter shade of my originally dyed color. And from what I've read myself about dyeing and maintaining red hair, it can be very difficult, really frustrating and time consuming.

I loved the color I had so much that I wanted to do everything I could to make sure it would stay that way for as long as possible, but I wasn't quite sure how to go about that. And honestly the only thing I have really done is to wash my hair every other day with shampoo and conditioner and when I'm in the shower, I make sure that it's only exposed to water for the minimum amount of time that is necessary to wash it. It still makes the water bright pink while I'm washing it, which really worries me during every shower, but I hardly ever see a difference because it seems to be a really gradual fading process.

I've thought about using a super red dye that we have laying around my house to brighten the color up a little bit, but I'm a little worried about how that will work, nor do I know if it will work at all. It's demi-permanent hair dye from Hot Topic, but there's not much left in the bottle. I may try it out though, just for the sake of seeing if it works.

I've also read about people using a temporary red hair spray type dye, which I imagine just washes out with one shower, but brightens up the hair during the day. My only problem with this is what the texture of the hair will end up to be during the day, because I find that hair spray makes my hair feel kind of greasy, which would lead me to washing my hair every day and that's something I want to avoid.

All in all, I am extremely happy with how L'Oreal worked out for me, and if you had any doubts before, even after reading my previous article about this topic, you shouldn't have any more doubts because this stuff is amazing and I will be using it forever!
