Merrell Shoes is a brand synonymous with the outdoors and also increasingly in the fashion world. Like they have been doing for the past 3 decades, Merrell has progressed from producing a standard leather hiking boot. Merrell has diversified their product range, yet still manufacture high quality footwear incorporating the latest technologies.

About the Brand

Merrell is an outdoor footwear brand which started in 1981 in Vermont, USA when Clark Matis, John Schweizer and Randy Merrell used their skills as ski, hiking boots and custom boots collectively. The aim was to produce an affordable performance boot.

In the subsequent years, Merrell has produced a varied product range, always living by the company’s mantra, to “Go Outside”. This belief has meant that Merrell has produced shoes and boots for hiking, walking and the outdoors. More recently, Merrell has also tapped more into the fashion markets. This can be seen in their marketing campaign which promotes a bridge in the urban-rural divide. This has been done by Merrell making outdoor shoes that are more stylish than ordinary outdoor or hiking boots. Additionally, Merrell has produced shoes that are more of a fashion shoe.  

Merrell Technology

Merrell have created a fantastic range of outdoor, performance footwear. They have made sure that each of their shoes come complete with the latest technology. These technologies keep Merrell as the leading outdoor shoes and boots brand. The great technologies that Merrell have deployed in all of their shoes have resulted in the wearer has utmost comfort and durability. The main technologies used in Merrell footwear are Gore Tex, Vibram and Ortholite.

The technology behind Gore Tex means that the membrane will protect your feet from water, it will also go some way to reducing the amount of perspiration. The gore tex adds a great level of comfort in the cold and wet conditions.

Vibram have been makers of quality soles for several years, their soles are made using two compounds of rubber, the result of this combination is a sole which performs well in all conditions. These Vibram rubber soles are used in 75% of the Merrell active range, providing transaction and grip on all terrains.

Ortholite have prided themselves on creating quality footbeds - that will remain useable for years. They're extremely durable and aid in creating the ultimate Merrell Shoes. All Ortholite footbeds have been proven to retain their comfort and cushioning even after large amounts of activity.

The Merrell Chameleon for men is a recent but extremely popular style of shoe from Merrell, it is fast becoming one of their classics. The Merrell Moc is more of a casual shoe by Merrell. It is a slip on shoe made of suede leather uppers. It incorporates the signature Merrell qualities of a walking shoe such as an Ortholite foot bed and a moulded EVA sole providing cushioning. The Jungle Moc comes in a range of colours and are perfect for a day out walking or to wear as part of a casual outfit.
