"Accept yourself wholeheartedly." This is the gist of the exciting message that I've heard from the newest winner of the Ford Supermodel of the World 2011 title. She's a very proud Filipina named Danica Flores Magpantay.

The 17-year old statuesque brown beauty at 5'9" wowed the judges as she grabbed the title last Saturday (January 22nd) in New York, bagging a modeling contract of $250,000 dollars.

Everyone is ecstatic about her winning, especially her mother, Lala Flores, a professional makeup artists and also the representative of the country on the same modeling contest.

According to her mentor Joey Espino, Danica will be very busy with all the 'beauty campaigns' that will happen throughout the year. This time, it will be the face of a Filipina that will shine and be on the covers of international fashion & beauty magazines, like Vogue, Cosmopolitan among others.

Danica, who's just starting her college studies as a fine arts student at the University of the Philippines, will have to concentrate on modeling as part of her winnings.

Meanwhile, Ford Supermodel of the World, which started in 1980, is the largest and most prestigious international modeling competition, with over 60,000 from 40 countries worldwide.

Other winners were the Lithuanian contestant who was named first runner-up and was awarded a $150,000 modeling contract and the contestant from Poland who won second runner-up, with a $100,000 contract.

With all the prestige and cash, young ladies from around the world with their eyes on modeling are interested with this kind of modelling success.

Why Danica, a brown beauty stands out in the contest

The mixed cultures that define Filipina in the modeling world today cannot alter the fact that being brown will always stand out in the field.

Mocha-skinned Danica Magpantay is not an exception. She's just following the steps of the recent Miss Universe runner-up winner, Venus Raj.

Asian looks nowadays are gaining recognition in the glamorous world of modeling. Caucasian looks are still in, but they cannot ignore the fact that Asian beauties have certain charisma that will urge you to have a second look.

If you have an eye for beauty, it's not the perfection that you seek. Sometimes, you are looking for asset that defines it.

It's not that I'm pulling a chair, maybe it's time to shine for a Filipina stunner and grab that elusive title.

The rigors of being an international model is on the shoulders of Danica these days.

Her family and her growing fans (including me) wish her good luck on her chosen field.

The judges have spoken. I'll agree with their judgment.

Ford Supermodel of the World had chosen a Filipina. Congratulations, Danica!
