Update: I now have youtube videos! If you scroll down you will see my video slideshow of natural hairstyles. And if you view my other videos, you will get some tutorials featuring natural hairstyles and how to braid names in hair. All comments and suggestions are welcome, by the way!

What I Use, & What I Dont Use

In all the photos except one, I used no beeswax, hairspray, gel, or other over the counter products.  I also used no rubber bands, no brushes, and no bobby pins without the rubber tips on them.

I used all natural products, to see a detailed list visit My Natural Products Hair Care Products hub.  And to find out why, visit Are The Products You Use Safe, and My Natural Hair Challenge

Id love to hear your thoughts.

Video Slideshow Of My Natural Hairstyles

I had such a hard time finding someone that displayed versatile natural hairstyles when I first started my natural quest. Then I found PrettyDimples page on YouTube, and although her hair was longer, she had a nice variation of styles that you could even alter and work with on short hairstyles too. So here are some of her natural hairstyles.

You're very pretty. How long have you been natural? Do you do your own hair?

Thank you! I do my own hair, and I have been natural for a year. What you see is a years worth of hair. Before that I was natural for 12 years and decided to try a perm. I got my hair cut (shaved in the back) and about an inch long on the top. I was not used to it being so straight, and it was not as versatile, When new growth would come in, I just wasn't happy with the look. Then it fell out because my hair is extremely sensitive to perms, and I knew that because that was why I went natural the first time(14 years ago)! Who knows what I was thinking - I call it a "young life crisis," but whatever it was, I sure learned my lesson!

Hey! I love your hub it is great! Check out www.naturesparlour.co.uk for natural and organic products, for both skin and hair! I currently use the castor and coconut oil on my hair at the moment but you can use them both on your skin! Castor oil can be used as hair and scalp moisturizer, use on your skin for the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), as a laxative or an inducer for childbirth (if taken internally). But I don’t use them for the last two to be honest! Nature’s Parlour has a Facebook site and a twitter that you can connect to, which will keep you updated and informed with the latest deals too! Also take a look at www.naturesparlourintern.blogspot.com and on there is my hair story along with links you can take a look at that you might find useful! Happy transitioning and have a blessed day! God Bless! Tynesha.

Liked your hairstyles. I'm with you about the gels. I've tried them and tried them and tried them but my hair LOVES moisture and adding water on top of the gel to refresh is good for a second day but not third and on.

I am absolutely loving the fact that so many of us black/African origin ladies are reconnecting with our natural hair. I started on the natural path last April (2011) and I am absolutely loving my kinks.

Great pics and a conscious move. Keep it up.
