Style Dos for Plus Size Fashion
For all our beautiful ladies that fit into this category we'd like to give you some additional tools to make you more fabulicious!
Keys to a Slimming Look:
- Choose a tonal palette. This means that your top, skirt or trousers are the same color or hue. Idea: Off white is great for the fall and winter.
- A leaner look. Keep a vertical, slimming line by wearing a long, unbuttoned blazer or cardigan.
- Scarves have it! Use an oblong scarve as an accessory. Create a long, vertical line by tying it loosely around your neck. Idea: Choose a contrasting scarf to your monochromatic look or play up an accent color in your outfit.
- Keep it Simple! Match your stocking color/tone to your skirt, pant and shoe color to create a slender silhouette.
- Make it Long! Avoid chokers, fabulous long chains, beads, or pearls create an elegant vertical line.
- Pumps Styling a Taller Heel! A higher heel will lengthen the look of your legs!
- Don’t Close Up! Elongate the neck with open necklines such as v-necks, sweetheart necklines and vertical cowl necks.

Options for Plus Sizes
Decades ago, the choices, especially for evening wear were no short of cutting holes in a potato sack. However, companies like Kiyonna Clothing has busted this door wide open with absolutely door busting options for the plus size diva!
There motto is: " When it Comes to Styling, Think Outside of the Box!" They cater to women size 10 and up, otherwise as they coin "women with Real Curves!" Their prices range from $50 to $200. Another plus (no pun intended) is that this is a USA company.
The site also has a blog written by plus size women who talk and write about the everyday issues that are special to them.
VALENTINA ILLUSION DRESS
Topping it Off!
Plus size women look best in A-line and empire or baby doll styles. Baby doll tops are similar to the A shaped dresses that have a waistline under the breast. They hide the stomach and bulges, give one a slimmer overall look. They hide all of your bulges and highlight your good curves. Halters are also good for hiding the stomach and waistline. These shirts should be worn by small-breasted women only. Camisoles and tank tops can be worn by themselves or worn under jackets. You must be careful to wear the right type of bra when wearing these tops. When you wear on shirt that has a V opening at the neck, it brings more attention to your face, neck and cleavage.
Black for tank tops is not the color that gives the most slimming effect on plus size women. A nice get up depends primarily on proportion and overall look. You could try monotone or colored outfits to divert attention to your face instead of drawing attention to your figure. You could also try to layer light fabrics to add some height to your midsection. These will give you a shapelier figure and will conceal your bulges. Use fabrics like jersey, organic rayon and cotton that will fall nicely over the curves of your waist and not make any problem areas stand out.
Camisoles are thin and usually come with pretty trimmings, such as beads, scallops, lace, or some appliqués. These beadworks and other designs along the top give a very pleasing effect when topped with a jacket, bolero or coat.
Plus size women can also look good with the proper choice of tank tops and other clothes. They just have to know what to wear and how to carry themselves, choose well and dress up with clothes that will accentuate their assets in order to feel good inside and out.
Remember ladies to keep the neckline open and slimming. Play with your scarves and layers of long chains and pearls to see what best fits your body size but most of all your personal style!
A woman who cares about her style and body type can look great at whatever size they are. It's all in knowing how and what to put it on and then how to accessorize!
This concludes this session on Fabulously Curvey!
Tops to You!
This is a bright and colorful top that can be paired with slacks, jeans, and skirts. The neckline is slimming and adds a younger vibe to your face.
Placing color on top, allows you to wear a more slimming solid color on your bottom. This creates that hour-glass figure that we strive for.
Tops, like these, will give you years of wear and can easily be updated with jewelry whether simple and elegant or ethnic and bohemian.
Of course, if you've chosen a printed bottom (skirt or slacks) the top should be solid or not as busy as the print on the bottom half.
If you are unsure of the match up, my favorite rule is "keep it simple!" Remove the item in question and replace with a solid.
