I LOVE Recycled Art.
I've always had the theory that artists who choose to work with recycled materials must use twice as much imagination for their creations.
Unlike regular artists who often create from nothing but inspiration, "recycling artists" must find new designs for products that were meant for another purpose. They must push their creativity and imaginations to the limit in order to see potential and think outside the box.
Such is the case with Florentine artist Simona, owner of "Come Sopra." Simona makes high-fashion necklaces and earrings out of zippers or buttons, and trendy totes from plastic shopping bags (among other materials).
in addition to making fashion accessories, Simona uses her imagination to make beautiful home accessories like picture frames and lighting fixtures. Her creations are not only good for the environment, they are original, unique, artsy and surprisingly affordable.
A few days ago my sweetheart of a husband and I went into Simona's shop and he treated me to a bunch of goodies (see photo below). I sported the necklace on one day, the tote bag the next day, and I wore the hair barrette today. I am happy to report that I have received MANY compliments on all three pieces! Needless to say, I sent them to Come Sopra to get their own unique accessories.
If you can't get Florence don't worry, you can check out her creations and contact her via Facebook. Just click the link: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001934498267 As always, thank you for reading!

Despite having lived in Italy for years and having traveled all over the country, I had never been to Napoli. My husband and I had to go there on business and stayed for three days. Napoli is a city of contrasts:...
