Reuben Reuben I've Been Thinking

Foot Odor Problems?

The title to my article comes from a rhyme I heard as a kid and in it's entirety goes,"Reuben, Reuben, I've been thinking; What would keep your feet from stinking! Do you or do you know someone whose feet really stink? Of course you do and maybe its even you!

We were sitting around jamming one night and one fellow who is a great musician was playing his banjo on a lively old tune. He was enthusiastically patting his foot keeping time to the beat. Out of nowhere the unmistakable smell of stinking feet filled the area around our music jam in my warm living room. I knew it had to be coming from those size 12 work boots he was wearing.

I am not making fun of my friend because all of us are prone to have sweaty feet. We have more sweat glands in our feet than any area of our bodies. All of us might not be like my buddy who commented one day,"Someone's deodorant has worn off and I know it ain't mine, I don't use it! He was being a little facetious and just talking but the truth is our bodies do emit foul odors if we don't use care and good hygiene. For some of us who tend to sweat a lot we must exercise more care if we don't won't to be called"Stinky."

The good news is these problems can be resolved easily enough. Wearing clean cotton socks go a long way to prevent foot odor and keep feet dry. Wear shoes which breath. Always wear socks. Inserts with activated charcoal can also be helpful. There are also powders that can be applied after showering or inside your shoes.
