Revitol Stretch Mark Cream - A Review

Revitol Stretch mark Cream - What is it?

Revitol stretch mark cream is a cream designed to prevent and treat stretch marks. The makers claim that it is made of 100% natural ingredients such as vitamins E, A and D3 as well as Aloe Vera and grapefruit seed extract. It is claimed that these oils in combination both "increase the elasticity of the skin and stimulate the production of new skin cells.

Before we go any further it is important to understand exactly what stretch marks are. Quite simply, they are scars. However, unlike ordinary scars they have formed underneath the surface of the skin. Their appearance is caused by the breakdown of the layers in the skin which allows the fat under the skins surface to show through. Sounds gross huh!

As a stretch marks sufferer myself ( I acquired mine during pregnancy) I know how frustrating they can be, so like many people I would be very happy to find a solution to get rid of them. This is how I stumbled upon revitol stretch mark cream and decided to investigate how and if it works.

Preventing Stretch Marks or Curing Stretch Marks...

The makers of revitol themselves state that this cream was designed to prevent stretch marks and that the best time to start using it is in the early stages of pregnancy. Now, were I at that stage, I would be more than willing to give it a go, however my stretch marks are several years old and still going strong.

The makers do also state that it is never too late to start and you will get fantastic results on existing stretch marks. This sounds more promising.

Revitol Stretch Mark Creams - What the customers say.. sells revitol and therefore has quite a number of reviews of it. In general they are positive reviews BUT most of the people were using it to prevent stretch marks not remove them. To give an example the following review is posted:

"I received my order fast and love this product. This product is the ONLY thing that has helped prevent stretch marks while being pregnant, I highly recommend to everyone who is looking for the perfect stretch mark cream. "

However, other websites had less positive reviews from people using it to try and remove stretch marks:

" After finishing one bottle of Revitol, my stretch marks look the exact same way they did before I started using it. Revitol did NOT reduce the appearance of my stretch marks! "

This seems to be the key: Are you looking for something to prevent or to cure stretch marks?

What My Dermatologist Says

Recently, I had to see a dermatologist about a freckle on my arm that looked a bit odd. As well as showing her that freckle,  I also asked her to take a quick look at my stretch marks and see if she could recommend anything. Bearing in mind that these are people that will happily take $800 from you to laser your facial wrinkles I thought that they would have some solution, albeit an expensive one.

In fact, after examining my stomach my dermatologist told me that she was sorry, but there was simply nothing she could do. As my marks are old and no longer red it wouldn't be worth lasering them as this only takes away redness. Also, ( and I really pushed her on this) she told me that in her opinion none of the creams that you can buy work. I went further asking whether not even the expensive ones do anything, to which she replied " you can spend your money if you like, but it won't work"

I wasn't happy to hear this, but I was relieved. It saves me a whole lot of money, and I suspect that eventually something will come along that can remove them!

Revitol Stretch Mark Cream - In conclusion

Having read extensively online about users experiences it seems to me that this stretch mark prevention cream works very well as just that - a stretch mark preventer. If you are considering buying it because you are pregnant the fact that it is so natural with no harsh chemicals make it seem perfect. Also, the online reviews by users buying it to prevent stretch marks are overwhelmingly positive. There are lots of happy customers out there.

However, if you are thinking of buying this product in order to remove stretch marks I think you could probably save your money as the reviews just don't stand up for that usage. In fact, lets be fair to Revitol they don't claim that this product will remove stretch marks, only that it will improve their appearance, and that is quite a broad claim.

If I were pregnant again I would certainly buy Revitol, however as somebody who has been through pregnancy twice and has the stretch marks to prove it, I just don't think it is worth my while to buy it to try and remove stretch marks that are already there. Sadly, for me I think it is too late!.

UPDATE: I am currently having some success with a prescription cream called Tazorac that I was given for wrinkles but which seems to work for stretch marks too. Read my Tazorac Review here... I will update as and when I see more progress...
