Sheepskin Shearling Coats
Sheepskin shearling coats are made from very high quality wool pelts that result in an extremely lightweight coat jacket but at the same time provide great comfort and warmth and protection from the elements. This is crucial for those in harsh conditions that require a men's leather jacket that is also light and warm. It is often referred to as the feminine version of the waistcoat because shearling wool comes from sheep and cashmere wool comes from goats.
Where Does it Come From?
Sheepskin shearling coats come from sheep pelts that are cured and dried. They are then dyed to enahnce the white wool and the brown side of the skin. Hand made sheepskin shearling coats are a lot more expensive due to the number of steps it takes to make.
If made in mass by machinery, it takes a lot faster but is generally more wasteful in terms of the number of pelts needed for every sheepskin shearling coat. Sheepskin shearling jackets can be very fashionable and very versatile such as for motorbike jackets.
