Summer 2010 Makeup Tips and Trends
This summer, makeup is all about COLOR. Don't be afraid to try it!
EYES: Eyes are shimmery and rainbow-colored. Combine different shades, like orange and blue or green and purple to really make your eyes stand out! Don't be surprised if you see unusual eyeshadow palletes out this summer. Some hot summer shades are turquoise, yellow, and pink! These shades can be matte or shimmery. Nowadays, eyeshadows come as loose powder, pressed powder, pencils, or creams. Experiment to get the effect you desire!
You can get great all-in-one kits at stores like Ulta or Sephora (or even on Amazon!) that include 40, 50, 60, or MORE different eyeshadows. Most kits like this are inexpensive and are a great way to try out different colors!
Lauren Luke, the YouTube makeup maven, has a slew of videos online that are geared towards creating a complete make up look in as little as 15-20 minutes! Browse her channel, panacea81, for a TON of great how-to videos where she shows you step-by-step, color by color, how to create the perfect look! She takes requests for color combinations and recreates celebrity looks as well! Visit Sephora stores or her website, By Lauren Luke, for great all-in-one make up kits!
FACE: Stick to neutral, natural shades for blush or bronzer on your face. While a little bit of color is nice, summer cheeks should have a subtle, rosy glow. Cream or mousse blushes are great for summertime because they add just a little bit of shimmery glow.
LIPS: Lip shades for summer vary widely from nude to vibrant reds and corals. Choose what looks best with your skin tone and what complements the rest of your makeup. For daytime, try a sheer nude or a little bit of gloss. At night, rev up your look with a dramatic coral-red.
