The Many Hairstyles of Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin is one of the most polarizing and controversial political figures women ever. But we don't care about that because we'll be talking about her hair. A lot of professional and mature women can learn something from her hair style sense. She always looks put together in whatever situation. Of course, it helps that she probably has a hairstylist wherever she goes, but even if she is without one, she chose looks that she is able to achieve by herself. These looks are easy and elegant.

The one thing that we must give her credit for is that she has brought back bangs and glasses in a big way. The bangs soften and balance her square jaw and frames her broad face nicely. In addition, she has incorporated those bangs so that she has a look that pulls together the diverse hairstyles that she is known for.

Instead of contact lenses she uses glasses. In many ways glasses are a lot easier to use and maintain than contact lenses, it also has the effect of projecting gravitas which lenses don't, gravitas is helpful in politics.

Wavy Hair

Sarah Palin debuts a new hairstyle during the Iowa Caucus as commentator for FOX News on January 2012. The wavy hair is a deviation from a previous look where she lets her hair down and blows it out. In this style, her hair is wavy but she keeps the half ponytail and her trademark bangs.

The Upsweep

The upsweep hairstyle for Sarah seems to be the most versatile. She has been photographed with this style while campaigning, being interviewed, jogging, and even visiting soldiers. This style is very practical, it allows her to look neat and put together in many situations but it also makes her look accessible but still professional.

It's an easy look to achieve and doesn't take a lot of effort. Notice that the upswept hair is piled higher up toward the crown than towards the middle or lower. By placing her hair higher up, it balances her square jaw but shows off her cheekbones and the clean angles of her jawline. Her hair is also loosely held not severely pulled back.

It's interesting that she hasn't chosen to wear her hair in a chignon, which might be a look that she considered too formal and inappropriate for the look that she wants to project.

The Half Ponytail

The half pony tail is casual but still helps her to maintain a professional appearance and keep her looking pretty but not sexy. In politics being a good looking woman is not an advantage. If anything the opposition uses a woman's good looks by degrading her and making her out to be too lightweight to be considered for an important political position. There have been many times her good looks been used by leftists to make fun of her. Her face has been superimposed on bikini shots and eve nude shots. Now granted, those shots are more believable with her face superimposed on it that Nancy Pelosi's but still, they're cheap shots.

This hairstyle also makes her look approachable and encourages people to come up to her and and get to know her. This hairstyle is the best for her and appropriate for the many official public appearances that her past roles as governor then vice presidential nominee, now as author and commentator requires.

Sarah Palin Lets Her Hair Down

Sarah Palin has great hair and with her hair blown dry straight, it shows very healthy locks with lots of body. We all could kill for hair like that. This style makes her look feminine and sexy, a reason why she probably doesn't wear it this way often in public. It also makes her look youngish. In addition, when the weather is windy, it gets in the face and can be a real distraction if you are giving a speech.

Palin has recently said that she prefers to be on the outside of politics where she can do more help than run for office, but we definitely have not seen the last of her. And we'll also look forward to her style evolving.

Hi Brenda, she has great hair, pretty, and a woman without a trust fund. She's got a lot of strikes against her.

I think she's a survivor though. And more.

I wore my hair up a couple of weeks ago and my neighbor said I had that "Sarah Palin" thing going. Guess I should have taken it as a complement. Nice hub. Voted up and interesting.
