Tifa Cosplay Costume: More popular than Cloud or Sephiroth

Updated on July 11, 2011

Final Fantasy VII fans have been celebrating their favorite characters for years now by cosplaying. Popular among them is Tifa Lockhart. She's a character in the video games and the movie. As a very close friend of the main good guy, Cloud Strife, she plays an important role in defeating the main bad guy, Sephiroth.

In the movie, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Tifa was Cloud's emotional support. She was the one who consoled him to move on with his life after the big fight with Sephiroth. At the beginning of the movie, both Tifa and Cloud were taking care of a few orphaned children in Edge.

But she had some action scenes. Tifa fought Loz in Aerith's church but failed to stop him from collecting the infected children. This was actually a pretty good fight.

And also, in the Forgotten City, Tifa joined her friends, Vincent Valentine, Cloud Strife, Cait Sith, and a few others to stop the dragon-like creature called Bahamuth SIN from raining total destruction.

The basic Tifa Lockheart cosplay costume definitely includes long flowing blackhair. In some pictures, the very tip of her hair is styled resembling a dolphin's tail. She wears a skirt. Her skirt in the video games is shorter than the skirt she wears in FF VII Advent Children, which is about knee length.

She is also all in black in the movie, including her top but with a white undershirt. In video games and other appearances, Tifa wears a white top with suspenders holding her mini skirt. When fighting, she also likes to wear black gloves that are sometimes elbow length.

Lastly, Tifa wears a protective pad on her left elbow, except in the movie when she fought Loz.

Tifa is more popular than Cloud or Sephiroth

The popular gaming site, IGN did a countdown of Final Fantasy's most popular characters and came away with Sephiroth at number 1, Aerith Gainsborough at number 2, and Cloud Strife number 3. Tifa came in at number 13.

Is that true?

A quick Google search on keywords shows that more people are interested in Tifa cosplay over the other characters by a long shot. Here is a screen shot. But you can check it out yourself by going to Google's keyword link.
