Top 10 Fall 2012 Trends and Prints
The runways have been hit with fall 2012’s newest trends and the upcoming season is looking very sophisticated. Some of the fiercest designers like Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Chloe, Fendi, Alexander Wang and many more had black leather pieces, short bobs, oversized coats, dark floral’s and tailored pants throughout their collections. The look this season is chic menswear with a pop of prints. These are my top 10 picks from the fall fashion shows this year:
I love this print and the way it pops. From dresses to nail art to watches to clutches, this print has been hot since L.A.M.B came out with their furry houndstooth pump. The best part about this print is it’s traditionally designed in black and white which means you can pair with any color.
The penny loafers you wore in grade school are back in. If only we were all the same shoe size that we were at the age of 7! We’d be able to rock vintage loafers to work. My favorite loafer style is the leather penny loafer pump designed by the classic YSL. This style will give any working woman that extra professional edge.
This trend brings me back to Carrie’s gold necklace from ‘Sex and the City’ that she couldn’t leave the house without. Everyone and their mother have been wearing the dipped in gold monogramed necklaces that showcase their initials in a loopy cursive font. Apparently the trend didn’t stop there. Now designers like Stella McCartney are monograming entire outfits! I don’t know how I feel about that, but I’ll get me a fancy necklace with my initials soon.
4. Animal Print
Oh animal print, how I love you. This popular printed trend has rolled over from the summer and comes in many forms. From zebra to cheetah to leopard to snake, you can rock this style on any piece of your outfit. Though I personally like it best on shoes or handbags, you can’t go wrong with a leopard bikini either.
5. Leather Items
Leather is normally associated with the ‘bad boy’ you knew in 10th grade who wore a leather jacket any chance he got. The fabric has evolved a lot since then. Women have gone beyond the leather handbag and are wearing leather shorts and skirts as well. This look is sleek and chic and I hope it makes a comeback next year.
6. Short Bobs
It’s not just about your clothes this season. The models had their hair styled in a short bob all thru the runway. The hair look for fall seems to be less (which makes sense since you’re wearing more clothing!) One of the hit show Glee’s main characters, Dianna Agron, recently chopped her blonde hair into a messy bob and looks better than ever.
7. Oversized coats
Unfortunate, but true, fall means cold weather and cold weather means more layers. Thanks to fashion genius’ like Balenciaga, we can conquer fall with chic oversized outerwear that will keep us warm while looking stylish.
8. Dark Florals
I love the way floral print has subtly transitioned from a spring-must to a fall trend. Instead of the bright flowers on your flowy spring tank top, fall designs have introduced black flowers on dark colors for that day that you’re feeling too happy to wear black.
9. Tailored Pants
Menswear for women has been in and out of seasons lately and I have to say I enjoy it’s presence. Tailored pants really accentuate the right curves on a women’s body, while still giving you a sophisticated look. Pair these pants with a button down top, or even a fitted V-neck with chunky jewelry.
10. Pencil Skirts
Pencil skirts are fancy and fun for any occasion. I think this item goes beyond the work place and can be great at a dinner date or happy hour. Pair it with a tight, thick belt to accentuate your sexy little waist!
