Amazing New Aqua Allegorias: Flora Nymphea and Bouquet No. 1
It’s spring, and Guerlain is at it again! Aged 182 years, the legendary perfume house is expanding their youth-oriented Guerlain Aqua Allegoria perfume line once more with their latest concoctions: Flora Nymphea and Bouquet N°1. Read on to find out more about these latest Aqua Allegoria additions and to discover the secret behind the entire Aqua Allegoria line.
Guerlain was founded to create luxurious, high-quality perfumes that were above all exquisitely enduring. Most Guerlain perfumes that debuted up until the Noughties were legendary perfumes that played upon the imagination of consumers for decades. But in 1999, Guerlain recognized a broad portfolio gap: youthful perfumes.
Jean Paul Guerlain, the family perfumer at the time, believed that a new line of perfumes was needed to reanimate the brand. Stepping away from the unifying character of Guerlain perfumes--the smoldering almond-vanillic foundation known as Guerlinade--Jean Paul committed the brand to a new line called Aqua Allegoria which, aimed at younger generations, would arouse “new interpretations of freshness in an unprecedented style.”
Eleven years on, the latest Aqua Allegoria duo proves that Guerlain has held true to Jean Paul’s commitment. These new Guerlain perfumes paint a soft watercolor image of dewy spring gardens at dawn. Bouquet N°1 features white flowers, delicate fruit, jasmine, peach, bergamot, and fresh cut grass, while Flora Nymphea displays the gentle and calming side of green notes, fruits, orange wisps, and honey. Both perfumes are green and dewy, but they are each unique! Bouquet N°1 is a peachy perfume that's rounded off with the freshness of white florals, bergamot and fruit; and Flora is milkier perfume with warm tones of orange-tinged honey.
These fragrances will be available for the time being at Aelia, a top travel retailer which can be found at ports and landing strips dotted across Europe.
If you can’t wait until the world-wide release of Flora Nymphea and Bouquet N°1, try some Aqua Allegoria classics that are still in production, like Herba Fresca, Pampelune, Mandarine Basilic, and Tiare Mimosa. Also Figue Iris and Cherry Blossom, though discontinued, are still available for purchase.
The original five Aqua Allegoria perfumes were created in 1999: Herba Fresca, Pamplelune, Lavande Velours, Rosa Magnifica, and Ylang & Vanille. Guerlain decided to revive the AA line by releasing a new duo every spring, starting in 2004 with Anisia Bella and Mentafollia. In 2005, the world met Orange Magnifica and Pivoine Magnifica. 2006 saw the introduction of Grosellina and Tutti Kiwi. Angeline Lila and Mandarine Basilic were released in 2007, while Figue Iris and Laurier Reglisse came into production in 2008. In 2009, Cherry Blossom and Tiare Mimosa set the trend for light, creamy perfumes.
