   The pros and cons of glasses vs. contacts?
   
   I wear glasses, and I've always been weary of wearing contacts. I've heard stories about contacts rolling to the back of eyes and drying out while napping, etc.

   I love my contacts. I have been a contact user for about 14 years now. I have Bausch and Lomb Purevision contacts. They are lenses that allow more oxygen to get through to your eyes, letting them breathe. They are lenses that can be worn for 30 days, but I have worn them for longer without them wearing out and without any damage to my eyes. Another bonus: you can wear them overnight without getting the dry feeling some contact users get after sleeping. They are very comfortable to wear and much more convenient than glasses, in my opinion.
   I guess it depends on how much you need your glasses. I am, by definition, legally blind, so I had to wear my glasses all the time, which I found to be annoying. If you only need your glasses to read/drive/ see distances occasionally, stick with the glasses.

   I prefer lenses but after years of wearing them they have started to irritate my eyes a little. Right now I tend to wear contact lenses when I go out and glasses around the house. Laser eye surgery is a possible consideration for the future.

   I tried contacts a few times but never got used to sticking them in. Mine ripped and then I was worried about getting a piece of it stuck in or on my eye.
   
   I'm over 45 now and I've been wearing glasses since I was 18 - 20. I like the pair I have now, the frames don't leave those marks on the sides of my nose. A light frame is so much nicer than the frames in the 1980's.

   I have Bausch and Lomb's contacts that you can wear for a month and sleep in. I have had no problems with them until I have worn them too long. I don't mind wearing glasses but I hate not being able to see out of my peripheral.

   I wear daily disposable contact lenses. I do prefer them to glasses, but I still wear glasses now and again.
   
   However if you have sensitve eyes like I do, overwearing them can cause you irratation, which can be annoying. Start of gradually wearing contacts for a few hours only and see how things go. Once you try them, you be kicking yourself for not trying them sooner.

   Ed, you already know I wear hard lens..(which I do recommend you to get!) because all you do is sleep with the contacts on while the lens does it's work and in the morning you're back with 20/20 vision.  I really like this because my mom has been worrying about my gradually worsening eyes and the hard lenses stop my eyes from getting worse.  Also you don't have to get new lens every day/week/month etc.  Most people get new lenses every 2 years but if you have sensitive eyes then 1 year would work too.  The problem with hard lens/ or contacts in general are that it is EXTREMELY important to clean your lenses and your hands properly because it is very easy to get infected eyes.  So far I haven't had any problems but you never know.  Another issue is the start up fee (hard lens).  It was pretty expensive to get started but the good thing about this is that the fee includes all appointments, adjustments etc. One issue you also have to consider is the fact that you have been wearing glasses for a long time and it will take a while to get use to putting a piece of plastic into your eyes. 
   
   But the truth is, this is all coming from a person who absolutely HATES wearing glasses...so it really depends on the person I guess.
