Do you and your children wear designer clothes and if so why?

Don't get me wrong there is always gonna be that little black dress for a party that says" I'm here" or the pair of jeans that fit like a glove, but what about the t-shirt that is no different than the one for a 1/10 of the price other than the designers name  What about the jeans, shirt or shorts that are no different in quality other than the name tag?  Is it a status symbol? Shows you have money, (maybe even if you don't) or the recognition from others? What about the kids peer pressure?

It's all about peer pressure!  I am a grandmother now and I see the grandchildren wearing only what's popular.  I have never been one to go the route of the majority.  Children need to learn to not be followers.  We need to practice and teach our children to be good stewards in all matters.

I don't, but the kids sometimes do. Mainly because they wear a school uniform, so their clothes get worn a lot, and wear out easily. I used to buy their school clothes at target, and then have to replace them halfway through the year. Then one year I was at the mall, and stopped at Gap to look around, and I could tell by the feel and the look that their uniform clothes (khaki pants and navy blue shirt) were better quality. Plus, Gap has kids pants that are stain resistant. Even then, I doubt I could afford Gap normally, but we have a Gap outlet in our town, and I shop them during the big sales (labor day and memorial day) and get their clothes at cheaper prices than I payed at Target. AND, after several years of doing this, I guarantee that the clothes last YEARS. My 10 year old is wearing clothes I bought for her older sister three years ago.

Yes, there are particular brands that I like to wear because I feel they do fit and wear better than a bargin basement item. But I can't afford to buy them from a designer place, so will wait until they become last season or go to a wholesaler that knocks a % off.

I sometimes find designer clothes for dirt cheap at consignments shops, but no, basic tees I buy the cheap versions because I agree that they are the same thing. When it comes to jeans and most clothes in general, I go on what looks good, could care less about the name tag.

I don't spend a whole lot on clothes, but I do try and give my kid clothes that are popular when I can.  Contrary to popular belief, not all "name brand" clothes are expensive.  There are companies that produce popular brands that don't rip off parents for the sake of being cool.  I also try and support local shops that have unique and cool designs for kids that are fairly reasonable.  these generally do cost a little more, but that's as a result of not having major industry price-basing, and I'm okay with that.
As for myself, I just wear what's comfortable and looks good to me - so, unless it's on a massive sale, I am pretty well label-free.
