Vintage purses are fun. Baking soda is the safest thing to use in any purse or bag. Some vintage bags are sensitive. Care should be taken when cleaning them. There are chemicals, but that is not safe for you.
Do not put fabric vintage bags out in damp air. This will destroy the fabric.
Sprinkle backing soda inside the bag, let sit for a few days. Dump and brush out. You can also place the bag in a dry plastic bag with baking soda in the bottom of the bag or fill it. Let it sit over night, test, if it still smells, let it sit longer.
Cigarette and pot smoke are two fo the toughest odors to get rid of. Especially tobacco.
