What matters is what is in your heart. Beautiful people can be corrupted by the lies of silver-tongued pursuers who only want to undress them for play. The rejection after the pay-off to those users also damages the beautiful. In psychological studies, it has been shown that people will make an effort to meet and date others they consider an 8 or a 9 or some factor they consider similar to their own physical appearance. But, almost nobody approaches the 10's.
So, beauty can be a burden.
The same holds for smarts. Some "smart" people are book smart. But, they are completely incapable of making their way in the world. Some of the most intelligent people I have known failed in life because they lacked social skills. Smartness- and this is very true, although I expect those who consider themselves "smart" based on degrees completed- can also lead to debilitating arrogance.
Arrogance destroys. These people seldom hear great advice or truth from others they consider "beneath" them, meaning they hold lower degrees. They might refuse work they believe is not good enough for them. In fact, studies have shown that if one member of a marriage attains a higher degree, it is very likely they will divorce their spouse and marry another person with the same, higher degree!
If you have one or more degrees- be careful. If you hold yourself above others, it can hurt you.
Back to the heart. This is most important. Out of the heart flow the words that either nurture or destroy (both the speaker and, often, the target).
So, between beauty and smarts, I choose character. You want the loving, kind, nurturing soul to join you for a lifetime of love, peace, and joy. Even with okay looks and average intelligence, this person will sow the very best things into your life.
Physical beauty fades, whereas inner beauty almost never does. Smarts are a zero factor in predicting life success. Intelligence and education have no effect on financial success, either. Most people who succeed financially own a business. Income levels do not predict financial success or even happiness.
Love opens the door to happiness, not beauty, not smarts.
