Dockers: My Only Choice in Foot Wear

Updated on April 22, 2016

Have you ever found a pair of shoes you don't want to part with? Well it may not be the pair I refer to but the type that they are. In this case Dockers - that's what I call them. There was a store that I would drive three hours to get to for these shoes. Unfortunately they have closed after many years. Bummer.

So I tried looking around until I found something local. They were not the Hush Puppies but they were made by a national company whose sweaters I enjoy adding to that they were comfortable. Their customer service was customer friendly. Down side: about a week later the foot was falling apart. I had once bought a pair from local store that cost me about 1/3 the price that lasted far longer. Not good. So back to the shopping around.

Why are you spending so long to find a pair of shoes? Why are you willing to drive three hours for that pair? That's easy. I can't wear socks and I have only found one kind of shoes that are comfortable without them. That's the dockers. You can dress me up in a three piece suit but you will still see the foot wear as the dockers complete with no socks. Shoveling snow for hours complete with long underwear and my dockers. Yes world the wife still wonders why I don't wear boots.

I have one type of shoes that I wear. They have a tendency to last up to two years before they need replacing. Because of how I walk its the heal that goes first. In fact I once had the heals replaced on another pair of shoes and those then lasted for a total of four years!

So even though I may have over 30 ties, there is only one pair of shoes that I wear. The wife seamed surprised the other day when she saw me writing this review. That is I only had one pair of shoes. Good news I may just add a second / new pair sometime soon. The current pair is still doing well and only a year old. But a second pair might be nice to have.

My Current First Choice in Hush Puppies

I had gotten two gift cards for Christmas. And I was not sure what I wanted to get on Amazon. It only took me about three months to finally decide. The pair of Hush Puppies was the first to added. And to be honest the selected pair changed when this lower priced pair became available. And I am glad that they did. They are the first pair that I have not had to "break in" in a long time. They are most comfortable. I usually take my shoes off when I come into our home. More then once I have caught myself not doing so.

A second option for the dockers.

I may be picky about the shoes but not the color. Its about the way they feel when I put them on not the color. The term is do they stand out. In my mind is if I have to be on my feet all day can I stand on them for many hours. With these shoes the answer is, yes I can.

These socks are available in many sizes

Wigwam Men's Diabetic strider socks, Black X-Large - To be honest I don't wear socks. One I don't like them. Two I twisted my ankle a few years ago and since then socks just hurt to wear. I had someone suggest these as they were the thinnest socks that they had. They felt fin until I put on the dockers. Then sorry, too tight. But if I were going to wear them around the house these would win out over any other pair that I own.
