Hair Implant Information
Whether you are a man or a woman, you very well may suffer from hair loss. Hair loss can happen rather quickly or it can be a slow and gradual process. People of all ages, sexes, and backgrounds can be affected by the loss of hair. For most people with minor hair loss, the use of over the counter products can either halt the process or even begin to reverse it. Unfortunately, not everyone has minor hair loss, so that is when they begin to consider the hair implant option. This option is typically reserved for those who have large amounts of hair missing and regular treatment options are not working for them.
The hair implant process involves surgically removing area of skin with hair follicles, primarily from the back of the head, to the areas of the head that are bald or are currently balding. The patches of skin removed have the follicles already imbedded in it, so it will facilitate natural hair growth. A few downsides exist to the procedure. It is usually expensive, somewhere in the range of $1500 and $20,000. The amount can vary because it depends on how many patches of skins need to be transferred from the back of the head to the front and how good the doctor is. Since this is a cosmetic procedure, your medical insurance will not cover it, so it could get expensive. If you happen not to have a large amount of money in the bank, then you can take out a loan to pay for it. Finding a hair implant doctor that you are comfortable with can be hard, so be sure to have a consultation with the one you like and discuss the surgery.
Considering hair implant surgery as an option should only be your last resort. Try the over the counter options, visit with your doctor and see if any prescription choices can help you. Once you decide to go through with the hair implant surgery, you should do plenty of homework on the procedure. Look at the reviews people that have had the procedure have written and if you happen to know anyone that has undergone the process, ask them about it. There are very little side effects to having this surgery and it is for cosmetic purposes. People are often uncomfortable with their appearance and one’s hair is a large factor of that. Be confident in your appearance following your hair implant procedure and you will feel much better.
