Silk, a fine , soft shiny natural fibre produced by silk worms , regarded as one of the best fabric. This silk fibre is obtained from silk cocoon , which is spins by a caterpillar.Silk worms are normally eat mulberry leafs , and spins a cocoon. This cocoon put into hot water to produce the silk, the lustrous fiber. For this , number of silk worms are grown in a farm and fed with mulberry leafs. After certain period of time, all the cocoons put into the hot water to produce silk. This is called as sericulture. Most part of the world , sericulture , the scientific growing of cocoon and producing silk is followed.

China and India are leading in the silk production. Chinese is the first people , who started using the silk. Ancient times, the silk production kept as secret by the kings of Chinese mainland. Even now , Chinese silk is regarded all over the world. People are gifted with silk fabrics with colourful chinese arts.Table clothes and cushion covers and silk cloths are depicted with chinese ancient stories (avanthi) are common.

Secondly, Silk fabric are regarded in India . Indian life style is blended with silk fabric. Ausipious days are celebrated by wearing silk cloth. Ladies wear silk sarees( Indian traditional wear) , Gents wear silk dhoties. Even Marriages will not completed without wearing the silk fabrics. Silk clothes are inseparable in ancient Indian kingdoms.

Japan is one of the first country which used scientific methods for silk. Italy, France and spain also in this list.

Silk cloth is natural protenious fibre , which has the special properties. Unlike other fabrics , silk has its unique property like not giving out more moisture with hot atmosphere, and not allowing coldness when it is cold. May be this is one of the reason Asians like the silk cloths and given more important to silk.

Thank u all for the comments. Hi Veronica, we should dry wash silk cloth. And By Ironing your silk cloth expands and shines. These are the tips for maintaining the silk cloths.
