Buy Slippers For Women Online

Updated on February 28, 2010

Slippers for women come in many guises. From leather to suede, boots and open toed to orthopaedic ones made for tired/sore/arthritic feet, there's a style to suit everyone. There's even designer slippers, not to mention discount and middle range variations. Are you a house-shoe snob - or don't care providing your feet are well taking care of?!

Slippers For Women

Slippers for women remain a best selling footwear item and have done all down the ages. The history of the slipper can be traced back hundreds of years and there's even been a fairy-tale written around them ... Cinderella anyone?

Since footwear became the easiest way of keeping our feet warm and dry, their none too distant cousins, the 'house shoe' came into being. It's likely that every woman in the world has owned at least one pair at some point in their lives and there's no doubt that they make a great gift, whatever the occasion. Treat your feet - slippers are the best thing since heated toilet seats were invented.

Leather Slippers

Slippers For Women

Leather slippers rock. You can wear them indoors and out and let's face it - they last longer. Still, I wouldn't recommend allowing your slippered feet to forget that they are in fact sat in slippers.

It just won't do to find yourself halfway to town (on public transport) wearing your favorite house loafing shoes. Like I once did.

And even worse, don't wear them and your pj's and drive the kids to school. Then break down. And have to walk home. Something else I managed to pull off. Only I wasn't even wearing my own slippers. I was wearing my husbands.

Incidents and accidents aside, a good pair of slippers are a pre-requisite for a busy lifestyle. Coming home after a hard days work, kicking off your heels and work shoes and slipping your feet into something far more comfortable is always a good thing.

It's a sign that you're home, the working day is truly over and you can get down to letting life's little strains pass completely over your head. Then immediately plunge into housework and thinking about dinner. But at least your feet are well catered for.

And leather slippers are as hard working as you no doubt will be. And that's the point of buying them - even when it comes to slippers, some of us need less a loafer and more a hard worker ...

Sheepskin Slippers

I love sheepskin slippers. In fact - I just love untreated leather for my feet full stop. I don't think there's a woman alive who hasn't owned at least one pair at some point. Fluffy, warm - comfortable.

Like all slippers, they came in several different styles and that means that there's got to be something to suit your tastes in slippers. If there is such a thing?

  • slip-ons
  • mules
  • moccassins
  • boots

I have two pair - slip ons and a boot type. Both are incredibly warm and I bought them at a gypsy market in the North of the city. Neither were above €10 so they were incredibly cheap. And unless you live over here and can get to the market on a Sunday morning, you're going to have to pay a little more than around $13.

Still ... at least you're compensated. Amazon delivers to your country. I'm not sure they know Portugal exists. Yet.

Ugg Slippers

Yep - Ugg slippers. Is there anything they don't make? Apart from underwear? Still - at least you know that when you've hit the 'pay now' button, you're getting a quality piece of footwear.

Uggs are totally fab - I've already extoled their virtues on another hub - and I'd buy a pair in a heart beat. Only I'd probably turn my slippers into an excuse to trawl around Lisbon in them and if you remember ... I've already been caught twice in public wearing slippers. No need to revisit silly bad habits.

And so ... let's recap on what Uggs are:

  • gorgeous
  • comfortable
  • trendy
  • fun
  • high quality
  • and most of all ... cozy

So dont be scared of the price tag on these slippers - they really are worth it. Remember: trendy and chic is not just for outdoors. It's for indoors too.

Think of the time when the mailman knocked the door. The new neighbor dropped round to say 'hi'. Your mother-in-law truned up, unannounced, to try and catch you unawares ... in a fix, looking every inch the 'see - I knew she wasn't good enough for my boy' as is humanly possible.

Don't be caught out with sloppy slippers - Uggs!

Funny Slippers For Women

Ok - funny slippers for women. There's got to be a few ladies with a sense of humor out there. Or maybe there isn't and it's significant others, family and friends that possess the funny bone.

Whoever or whatever, there's a funky, funny and altogether silly slipper to suit all kinds of fun loving folks. Here's a list, though not exhaustive, of crazy feet for cool people:

  • animal paws and claws
  • penguins
  • dogs
  • wolves
  • giraffes
  • bunnies
  • bears
  • turtles
  • pigs
  • monkeys
  • dragons
  • frogs
  • and many more

And of course I'm going with the froggy slippers. If anyone feels like making me a gift of them, you will be thought of fondly, often and find a Christmas card in your mail box, annualy.

I promise.
